Hello. I'm new here. There seems to be a wealth of knowledge and experience, plus a lot of people willing to share it with each other. I'm looking forward to being part of the community here. I've been shooting and hunting since I was a high school kid (grad 1967, just in time for the Vietnam war). I've hunted ducks, quail, doves, rabbits, coyotes, deer, and elk. I don't hunt much any more, I'm getting soft hearted in my old age. The only animals that have to worry about me now are chicken killing coyotes and rattlesnakes too close to my house. I still like to go elk hunting with friends and try to call a bull in close for them to shoot with a bow. Here in NM the only elk hunting allowed during the rut is bow hunting. Later when the rut is over the muzzle loader and rifle seasons start, but no more calling in of bulls then. That's when we climb the mountains into the rough stuff and try to sneak up on them or ambush them.

Welcome, gila_dog1! Many of us find as we age that we are less motivated to hunt whatever and whenever we can. It looks like your experience will be helpful and a welcome addition to our knowledge base. Please check out THR primer in the general gun discussion section, and make yourself at home.

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!
Hi I am KevinOhio, I enjoy target shooting and hunting grackle and cowbirds with my Crosman F4. 177. I really like break barrels but some day want to step up to a PCP.

Welcome, KevinOhio! Break barrels are a hoot and grackles are notorious nest robbers, so more power to you. Careful what you wish for though--the gun is the cheap part of the PCP solution, unless you love running bicycle pumps for ever! Anyway, glad to have you on board. THR primer has a list of acronyms and suggestions for a fun and rewarding experience on our favorite gun board. Enjoy!

Hello folks. I live in Oklahoma. I originally joined about this time last year. Shortly after joining I had to deal with health issues. Just starting to get back into shooting. I spent 17 years in the army and 12 1/2 years doing overseas contact work. Middle East and South American. My new love is precision.22LR shooting. Hopefully I will get some great hints and knowledge from the members here.

Welcome Ron341! Glad you got through the health challenges and discovered the joys of precision rimfire. You have valuable experience under your belt and should be able to pick up more here. Check out the THR primer in the general gun discussion section and make yourself at home.

Welcome to THR, Ron. Head down to the Rifle Country forum. I'm pretty sure you can make some friends talking about precision shooting there.

Hi Everyone. Mike here. I was joining some more firearm forums to see what people are talking about and give some news on some scam firearm sites I have been documenting. I will probably post the list here as soon as it has been quality checked more. It will shock you! I am into ARs and Walther Pistols mostly. Used to have lots of different things like Mausers and Shotguns.

Just joined, long time gun enthusiast collector. Located in Phoenix, AZ and the mountains of CO in the summer. Excited to be here!

Hello, been aware of the forums long time, finally registered...Currently building out an Aero 308 in battle rifle config. Bare rifle 7lb 9oz, but yea before optic/mount (Trijicon Credo HX264 1x6 LPVO on Aero ultralight), suppressor, weapon light and sling :/ Just weapon light and sling away from completion (And CGS Hyperion K in jail) so if you have input on ultimate lightweight light option please do chime in. She already feels tad front end heavy...I could swap the Ballistic Advantage/Aero Precion barrel (36oz) out for a Faxon or similar and gain almost whole weight net diff for weapon light, IDK...Anyways best forum out there, good to finally register!

Hey-
I’m Matt and live in Ga. I love shooting and the science behind shooting. I reload all my rounds, and have also milled and built several AR-15’s. I own several handguns, but recently have really been enjoying my bolt actions the most. I hunt a lot with them, and also love long range precision shooting. Currently, my favorite is a DD Delta 5 Pro chambered in .308

Hello, Matt, and welcome. You will likely enjoy the reloading and rifle country sections. Please read the THR primer and wade around a bit before jumping in. You may disagree with statements or opinions expressed, but no one needs more enemies so please be constructive and respectful in your responses. It makes this a better experience for everyone. Enjoy!

Hello! I'm Alex and I live in Siberia. I am fond of fishing, hunting and weapons. I like clay shooting and accurate shots. In my free time, I enjoy restoring old weapons. I hope my experience will be useful to you, and I will learn a new American society.

Hello Alex, welcome to the forum from New Mexico. Any pictures of the old weapons you restore?
Basically, these are not antiques. These are old Soviet pistols, revolver, Mosin, SA-26, AK not capable of shooting. If you're interested, I'll take a picture of the junk I have.

Welcome, Jim. Sounds like you are living the dream! Glad to have you with us and I hope you enjoy this connection with our firearms traditions and discoveries. Please check out the THR primer when you have time, and don't be bashful. Cheers!
