I got tired of waiting and not the bullet and bought some primers at market rate. I got gouged a bit but I think I am good now for a year or two.
Of course immediately after placing the order I start getting notices about other shops with primers in stock.

I found some CCI SPP at a local shop last week; $100/1000. Was getting low so I bought a brick. Don't think I could do much better online, especially with shipping and hazmat.

Yeah, I bought primers this month. They are the first I've bought since 2019. I like to keep a couple years worth on hand at all times and was starting to get concerned. Finally caved when I found some in stock.

I am not there yet, but if I get there I look at it this way: I have everything else. If the marginal cost of loading is ten cents a shell because that is what the primer I don't have costs me, so be it.

You didn't get gouged. $80/k is considered a pretty good price for CCI primers right now. Any of the Vista primers are in pretty short supply and seem to be going for over $100/k.

The best imported primers (Genix) are regularly going for $90/k (including shipping and HazMat) without an upper limit on purchases; the minimum purchase is 5K... with some places charge even more

I quit using small pistol magnum primers. I have about 8-900 left over and can’t give them away in west Texas. Good thing I’m an engineer and not a salesman.

Hang onto those if you shoot one of the WCF cartridges or if you decide to make low-pressure, lead "gallery" loads in a rifle cartridge that uses a small primer. Personally, I use my SPM primers in small pistol loads with ball type powders where more "heat" is called for but, yeah, it's really just a precaution since we don't get all that cold down here.
