Scams and Scam Sites - Please list here

You are quite welcome Sir,
Sorry,
I haven't been on.
My FIL has been having amputations on his feet.
Been working hard to help my wife and when I get a free moment, I'm at the range.
Good luck with all of it Gunny. Use that range time as a therapeutic treatment. It works for me and my son - he’s a retired Gunny too.

Safety Gun Shop - Handguns, Shotguns, Rifles, Ammunition, Rifle Scopes and Optics

This site is excellent and when I did a chat with them they sent a copy of the chat to my email. Once I found they only accepted venmo, zelle, and paypal for payment I knew this site is a scamer.

As for money orders, I do all of my transactions on auction sites through USPS money orders. This does not mean you are a scamer.

I’ve also sent several money orders without issue. Generally, it has been to sellers who will also take a check though.

Sadly those still accepting PayPal for firearms, ammo and related parts should set off "scam radar" as well.

Beware of it, it is happening a lot, criminals have taken note the demand for ammo and guns and are creating scam sites so do your research before you buy. I have been buying online for over fifteen years and even I just got taken.

Ammunationusa

1 had good reviews on ammoseek
2 had a secure link
3 fraud check sites didn't list it
4 company seemed to have a current FFL
5 Site specifics didn't raise any red flags
6 pricing was not too good to be true

But two weeks later no contact, no replies, no tracking, no shipment, no phone number tied to the company that answers

If a site says to use zelie, or western union, or paypal, or cash app DO NOT use it. Even some sites will take your card then say it won't process and direct you to a cash payment and then they stole your card info also.

I messed up and forgot paypal terms of no ammo or guns and used it, I cannot contact paypal to dispute because they won't cover it and will ban me after anyway.

So be careful online, or learn the hard way like I did

As a rule, avoid any site which only takes payment via Venmo, Zelle, cashapp, etc. Paypal is not necessarily a flag, but make sure you're able to use a card and that it's a good & services transaction, not F&F. That said, most of us in the industry avoid PayPal like the plague, very anti-gun and can fine users $2,500 per transaction on prohibited items.

Some of us do have Zelle as an option when it's available through our NFI; we probably do around 5% of service transactions with Zelle through Wells Fargo. But if it's the only option, that's a red flag.

At the end of the day, Google is your friend. Scam sites are usually pretty easy to find complaints on.

Doesn't seem to be a scam sales operation, but the material published at gunsbit.com runs the gamut from ludicrous to dangerous.

if you don't want to risk entanglement

"What is the On/Off Lever on a 1903 Springfield?

The on/off lever on a 1903 Springfield is the lever that controls the flow of gas to the gun. When the lever is in the “on” position, gas flows from the gas port into the chamber, and when the lever is in the “off” position, gas flow is blocked. The purpose of this lever is to allow shooters to safely clean their gun without having to discharge any rounds.

The Springfield 1903 is a bolt-action rifle that was used extensively by the United States military during the early 20th century. The rifle was designed by John C. Garand, who also designed the M1 Garand rifle that would replace it in service. The 1903 Springfield has a five-round internal magazine and can be fitted with either a bayonet or a scope.

Additionally, the rifle was not equipped with a bayonet lug, meaning that soldiers had to carry a separate bayonet if they wanted one. "

If you have a 9mm pistol, you can shoot 380 ammunition in it. The 9mm is a much larger caliber than the 380, so the 380 will fit perfectly into the chamber of the 9mm. You may notice that the recoil is slightly different with the 380 ammo, but it will not be enough to cause any problems.

Quote:
The 9mm Luger is a very popular handgun round, and many people want to know if it can be used in a .40 S&W firearm. The answer is yes, it can be done safely. The 9mm Luger has slightly higher pressure than the .40 S&W, but the difference is not enough to cause any problems in most firearms.

In fact, many gun manufacturers make barrels that are marked “.40 S&W/.9mm Luger” which are safe to use with either caliber of ammunition. There are some exceptions though, so always check with your gun’s manufacturer before using a different caliber of ammunition.

Oh how I wish I had seen this list before 22. November. Add Mega Ammo Supply ( megammosupply.com ) to the 'run away from' list of scumbags. Also a very nice website that looks legit- except for all the red flags that somehow I missed. Addresses that aren't real stores, a phone number that doesn't work, accepts PayPal F&F and crypto only, etc. Got me for $400 because I'm a dumba$$. Don't be like me. I can provide screenshots and chat text logs if anyone is interested. Stay away from them.

I once got scammed out of $400. I felt really stupid. It was not an ammo supplier but a hacker in a friends email. Looking back the red flags were there I just didn't see them. We need a thread with good ammo suppliers, for example, I have recently had several orders from Palmetto State Armory and their service is excellent and they have had some awesome deals of late. Shipping charges are not bad at all and they will ship part of an order if the rest is delayed. Very happy with them.

New Para-Ordinance website up and running.......... Even though Para-Ordinace really no longer exists. It's a scam site, key identifier is they only take Zelle or Crypto. Pass the word.

I checked that site again, none of the icons works for Facebook, Google Instagram or Tweeter. Same messages show up that someone just bought some guns or rifle.

I use Palmetto State and Midway and Optics Planet and GunMagWarehouse and Sportsmans Warehouse (sportsmans.com) and a few others for firearms and ammo related stuff. I stick with what I know, subscribe to their sales flyers emails. I have spent so much money with these guys it's ridiculous. I shop the sales and "try" to resist impulse buying but; man it's hard! Just what I need. Always wanting more ammo.
I've even bought accessories for my suppressors from Optics Planet.
I haven't bought anything from Brownells in a while.

There is also a family business out of OK that I have been doing business with for years.
