On any given day, it'll probably be one of these two.

The blued gun is a Lipsey's Bisley Flattop in .44 Special. It's nearly stock, with just a trigger job and firelapping. It was extraordinarily accurate right from the box, and after firelapping is about a 3 MOA gun. It's done a bit of hunting but is mostly my woods walking and pinecone shooting gun.

The stainless gun is a Vaquero in .45 Colt, which has had the "Full Monty" cowboy action and accurizing job. It's not quite as accurate as the Flattop but still outshoots me from offhand, and is almost exclusively used with blackpowder loads. I haven't taken it hunting yet, but have plans...

For pure fun - it's otherwise not an especially useful gun - the nod probably goes to this full custom 1851 Navy.

It is #25 of 25, the last one made by a Texas gunsmith who imported raw forgings from Italy and built the guns to a high standard. Perfectly reliable, with useful sights and one of the best triggers I have ever pulled, it holds its own with just about any gun on the range - at least until it is time for a speed load!

View attachment 1092545Today it's the Ruger Speed Six 2 3/4" 357. Fun at the range, carries/conceals well and accurate.

I've got one, love it. Mine has been fine-tuned. Great EDC pistol. Once I chronograph'd mine next to a S&W with six inch barrel, using the same cartridges out of the same box. The Ruger was within 50fps of the longer barrel. Go figure! That was with heavy loads, and 180 and 200 grain bullets.

As others have pointed out, favorite for what?

This 4 5/8" barreled .45 Colt Ruger Blackhawk is my constant companion, my everyday carry revolver, in a Doc Barranti Holster:

And for Sunday wear for church, its this holster, also from Doc Barranti:

Back during my hunting days it was one of these Super Blackhawks:

Both of those Super Blackhawks are super accurate and out to about 100 yards or so were still plenty potent.

I just got this rig a short time ago, and now it goes a-wantin' for getting out, but those days are.................

WOW, I never realized Ruger wrote a small novel on their barrels like that.

Yes, I've got one too, and it requires a book-mark to read. I thought about switching barrels at one time, but the thing is so accurate I didn't think that would be smart. Bill Ruger did a couple of funny things like that, thinking he could appease the communists.
