What is your Favorite Revolver and its use

My favorite is no doubt my 1977 vintage S&W Model 29-2! It's official use is my woods carry/hiking gun for protection against large angry critters, however it gets a lot more use as just a fun target pistol. Nothing more enjoyable and fun than casually blasting at targets from 100 yards away with this gun! 20210109_195325.jpg

Just wondering what everyone's favorite revolver is and what you use it for.

Mine is my 5" 625 45 ACP. I use it for informal target shooting.

Awesome replies.

Another way I maybe shoulda worded it was, Which revolver do you have the most fun with?

This weekend? This Ruger Single Six.

Use? Entertainment and forgetting about the work week. :D

The top one is my age, 64 years old. It's my first revolver. Made in Dec 1957 or Jan 1958, I bought it in 1984, It was still new and no one wanted it.

Sounds a lot like when I found a S&W Model 58 .41 Magnum down on the bottom of the Used Guns display case. Like new in the box with all of the factory paperwork. It looked new even though it was a little dusty from sitting on the bottom shelf for so long. One nice thing about it was it was that it had been down there so long no one ever bothered to update the price on it! It was priced at $250 and that's what I got it for!

Out of all my revolvers, these two are my favorites. It is far too close to pick just one.
Not because either is a show piece or that they are the best shooting of what I have. These are favorites for sentimental reasons.

The one on top is a S&W 10-5 and was my step dads service revolver when he was an Airforce pilot.

The other belonged to my Father in law and has a story behind it.

What story? Well since you asked.....

When my mother in law died, my FIL remarried. Nothing unusual there other than he married a crazy woman.
When he finally came to his senses and decided to divorce her, she went even more crazy. At one point, Wayne walked into a closet for something, she locked him in it and started some crazy rant and called the cops with some story.
The cops arrived and did their best to calm the blonde tornado down. The did manage to get Wayne out of the closet and ushered him into the garage just off the Kitchen, while they tried to talk to his soon to be ex.
They finally got done with her and came out to get Waynes side of it, but every few minutes the door would open and blonde head would poke out screeching one thing or another.
About the third time one of the officers looked at Wayne and said "Would you like to borrow my gun?"

Two years later that officer retired. He had become friends with Wayne and once again offered him his Ruger Police Service Six, but this time to buy it.
Wayne took him up on it and while he never used it on his Ex, he was quite proud of it and its colorful history.

Wayne passed away of leukemia a few years back and left it and a few other guns to me.

just bought another one(625) on Gunbroker so I will have a “brace” of them now as Clint Smith says

This 4.2” sp101 357 is my favorite firearm of any type. I carry it camping and hunting and just around the property. It’s also superbly accurate. I have killed 3 deer with it but will probably use its larger brother from another mother, my S&W model 69 for that in the future.

I've probably owned 100 or more revolvers in my life. Mostly Smith and Wesson, but a smattering of other brands were in there too. Ruger, Colt, Taurus, Harrington and Richardson, High Standard, Rossi, and some others I'm sure I've forgotten about.

These days there are only three left. A pair of Colt Pythons, and a Ruger Single-Six 50th anniversary model.

My wife's Python

The other one looks just like it.

And my wife's Ruger SS.

And about all they're used for is punching holes in a piece of paper...and keeping the shelf in the safe from floating away.

I've thought about an answer for the OP's question for some time now. I know this may not make much sense to most but here goes:
My favorite revolver is a tie between two; a S&W Model 15 and a Model 18. Their use? None whatsoever. They are safe queens, but those two models (not those particular examples), for purely sentimental reasons, are my favorites.

I nearly posted my 15-2 Combat Masterpiece as my answer but it's so dang pristine I don't shoot it much. It's the only revolver I'm so anal about. It's definitely my favorite revolver to fondle though.:D

The answer to this "plight" is to get another. And if it too is "so dang pristine"
then get yet another or maybe another and another. You might as well
figure in at least one with target trigger and target hammer, another with
2-inch barrel, perhaps a nickel one and even one of more recent vintage
with the "bull" Model 14 barrel. Oh, and yes, don't forget a Model
67, the stainless version!

I'm happy if I have been able to help you out of your fix. :):):):):):)

That kind of thinking is how I ended up with eighteen revolvers in the safe in seven years..:)

Not my favorite because ive never shot one, but i saw a Ruger Hawkeye in .256 WM go at auction this weekend... For like $3200! :what:I would love one but thats outta my price range
