turned 56 a few days ago and decided to go to the range in the afternoon. had a nice time shooting some 45 acp and a little 44 mag( didn't shoot anything with spp since i am running lower on those) and figured since it was my birthday might as well use up some of my left over walmart 308 win perfecta that they used to stock.

brought my les baer heaveight monolith and my ruger SRH. i haven't shot the SRH in a few years but it is still easy to shoot even with mid to high( not max) magnum loads. the heft makes shooting easy along with the hogue tamer grips. at 10 yrds on paper the holes are usually next to each other in a line but not necessarily in a round group. i have been shooting the smith and wesson model 29 8 3/8 full lug more over the past couple of yrs and i certainly enjoy it but it seems the recoil is less with the SRH. i shot my 8 inch gong at 25 yrds and it is so satisfying hearing that gong clang from the 44 mag.

the 1911 shoots well but i often pull pull a few shots with my blurry sight picture but predictably groups well.
also shot my M1A at steel gongs at 225 yrd. i really ought to recheck my zero at 100 yrds to see if i am a click or so off for windage but i figure it is close enough for gong shooting. overall satisfying afternoon of shooting.

i made a couple of videos on the1911 and mia but ran out of battery for the 44 mag.
rifle is off category but what the heck.

Looks like a great way to spend your day!

My 55th is approaching, I just may follow in your footsteps and shoot a bit as well. :)

Stay safe.
