I did some upgrades to mine, quick change cylinder pin and 45lc conversion cylinder. Honestly these are the best most accurate black powder pistols even made. Its more accurate than a lot of my center fire revolvers.

The M/11 doesn't need a special trigger pack to go FA. Limp wrist one and you never know what the thing will do.

I hear that. After deal hunting for a couple of years and watching the price skyrocket I bit the bullet and paid $1800 for my NIB PSP. I was crying all the way to the bank. I must say I don't feel so bad about it now even though it's still the most I've ever paid for a gun.

a 280 Carbine… that’s one heck of a gun! bet it was a hoot to shoot
 
that M11 didn’t need sights and the trigger slab was painful. I always shot it from the hip, and did mag dumps, like it was intended! lol
 
Never saw any gun I bought as an investment. When I see a gun I like I buy it as long as finances support my wanting it. While I would not say I collect Colt Government Series 70 guns I have a pile of them.

A dew Colt Pythons in my mix and a few other 1911 guns including a very clean Remington Rand WWII GI take home. I simply enjoy what I have acumulated over many years. Yes, they have appreciated in value but really not as investments. I have no plans to sell off any of my guns so kids and grandkids can figure things out when I'm gone. :) One hell of a lot of guns for them to divide. :)

No, not just out on display. They are all however on the racks they are pictured on but in the safe. The two top shelves in my safe have those wire racks. I really like those racks. Top shelf is semiauto pistols and the lower shelf is revolvers. They were out for a photo op. :)

Inflation calculators put the smack down on a lot of these so called "lotto winnings". Even the OP's example from 5yrs ago is almost 240.00 just in inflation.

Even the Hughes ammendment gun isn't much of a lotto "win" when you factor almost 40yrs.

Could have made a lot more if you stuck that 1200 on Apple or Microsoft. Course that definately would not have been as fun. :D

lol! I bought apple in 2009 at $80-ish, FB the 1st day it was publicly available, and I have a ton of Amazon in the family. So, I’m good, lol

Remember when Facebook, you could buy and sell gun… they had this guy who was a snake gun collector and seller, he was selling Pythons for right at $1,000 so he could buy other rare snakes.

Hmm. Now you got me thinking, my LGS just posted a 7600 in 35rem today. He didn't post a price but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's under $600. Is it just the 7600 in general or specifically one in .280?

There's also a real nice peep sighted Maroin 30-30 for $525. That one caught my eye along with some others. He just bought a collection of guns, judging from the prices he got a pretty good deal and is passing it on....

Pretty funny really, considering their general reputation as junk guns now. Think I paid $300ish as well, and sold it for about the same a year later, only too glad to be rid of it.
Wouldn't give a moldy $50 for one now.
 
Very few of the firearms I own are worth less than what I paid for them. Problem is, none of them are anything I want to part with just to make a few dollars on them. I invested in them for the pleasure I get from them and the work they do as tools, not for any monetary return. My heirs will have to do that, if they so please.
