I believe the HKS 10-A will work. Their inexpensive and have worked great for me.

Works great with my Taurus 856.

Uses the same speedloaders as Smith and Wesson 6 shot K frame .38 special revolvers.

Safariland Comp 2

HKS DS-A, same as the Colt Detective Special. HKS lists the Taurus 856 specifically.

I use the HKS 10-A loaders in my old model (6-shot) Taurus 66. They fit the 856 as well. They hold up really well too. I've had the same pair of HKS 10-As for nearly 30 years. They still work like new.

I bought a 2" Taurus 856 last October. My Safariland COMP II Speedloaders (from the bubblecard, # J-K2C "Model:J" ... listing the Taurus 66, among others) do not work with this revolver.

My old HKS 10s (I have no 10-As) will work with some "fiddling" practice ... not an ideal thing for when you need to reload with celerity and possibly only by touch.

Now ... off to source some HKS 10-As.


EDIT: From what I have seen on the web, what I have are 10-As.
