I was not really looking to get another 1911 but I guess I will take it.I figured I was hosed so I'm glad to get something It looks like it as hardly had a box of rounds put though it .It has a nice finish but the grips are going to have to go,they dont fit my big meaty fingers. I'm going to have to find something nice to replace the Pachmyers. Cant wait to see how she shoots !

Leave the GRIPS alone, the 2000’s finger grooves are coming back in style and are IMPOSSIBLE to find, especially the 2000’s/90’s original vintage
 
I think i have to do something different with the grips the finger groves are too small , way too small I will see if I can find out what the original grips look like and find something close. I dont think the Pachmyers are factory. I wont toss them , they might fit somebody else better than they fit my big paws . Now back to my original plan , save up for an AR15 .

it’s crazy how friends forget to pay, and I hate chasing money from them. So… win win on the Colt! will only go up in value and PLEASE keep the cool grips

They're only cool to some people. I think they're ugly. I don't like half wood half rubber grips and I don't like finger grooves. I prefer all wood grips except smooth ones. All rubber isn't bad as long as they don't wrap around.
 
My 2 cents is that if it doesn't fit your hand, sell it and get your money back. It seems some people like these, you may not have an issue.

I wasn't looking for any of the guns I bought in the last 10 years. Well, I was kind of looking for the SP101 in 327FM but that was more then 10 years ago.
Nice gun by the way.
 
The trouble is not everyone has the same size hands. What works great for one person could be nearly unusable for the next person . If the finger grooves work for you thats great they might provide a secure handle , but I prefer a plain grip myself. Perhaps there is a reason the finger groove grips have fallen by the way.

Cocobolo is gorgeous, too.

Now, a person could take the old grips off and put them in a drawer. Or sell them someplace online. Those are unlikely t be the original grips fora Gold up, so, there's no real value to them beyond what they might sell for.
 
I was half thinking about making a set of grips, find a nice looking hunk of wood , and remove everything that doesn't look like a 1911 grip easy peasy right ? lol . I have a set of grips im making for a little .22 revolver that are about 3/4 done , I gotta finish that little project sometime, probably play with that more after it cools down this fall.guess I will have to hit the LGS and see if they have any grips , might be a good excuse to go to a gun show ! The Pachmiers will go into my box of stuff along with the grips I tried on my Springfield , ended up putting the factory ones back on, way better!
 
Always nice to get reimbersed! I had a tenant who didn't have rent money so he offered me his Interarms Mini Mark X in .223 instead. You bet! They dried up some years before that and I always regretted not getting one. (Shotgun News had all the calibers in a barreled action. Had to buy a bell and carlson stock and you had a pretty nice $200 rifle.)
I have one in 25-06. Still have both to this day. Maybe have 50 rnds thru it.

Nice! My Dad had a guy owe him money and he ended up taking a well worn Win 1894 “Golden Spike” rifle that looks like crap. Dad figured it was about all the blood he would get out of that turnip so he took it. That eyesore is now in my safe, I am thinking about someday having it cut to 16.5” and parkerized or cerakoted to cover the splotchy gold tone finish.

Yup! If there aren’t 15 styles of 1911 grip panels on CDNN alone for under 20 bucks I will be shocked. They are literally everywhere.
