I’d vote for a Nagant in 7.62x38R.

If they see you deploy it they will know you are crazier than they, and depart speedily. And it has 7 shots, which is better than six or five, and not quite as good as eight.


But in all seriousness I’d probably take the 44, of the two choices in question.
 
i can tell which gun is which cartridge by comparing the front sights. nice lines on those revolvers. i can't vote either. i would be glad to run either one of those wheel guns.

No one, to my knowledge, has died from Syllable Deficit Disorder. No acronym for this as it does not exist. :rofl:

Actually no I did not come up with another acronym. S&W named the original Lew Horton 450 or round about made NO lock this UDR brand, as it was also used in the Bloodwork Clint Eastwood Movie.

By golly they did call the “Blood Work” model 627 a “UDR” - ultimate defense revolver.

I have versions of both. They're fine. Either one would be great for HD.

I keep a 3" k-frame 38 special DAO next to my bed these days. It is handy and can be shoved partially into pants or robe pocket if the dogs think something needs to be investigated. (I'm really just their backup.)
 
I have a few that do not fit in either of those 2 places. Model 65 with a 64 standard barrel, 642 prior to fitting of a 940 cylinder.

I went ahead and selected the 627. I have a 327 Night Guard and it is my favorite defense revolver. It’s my primary HD gun.
 
What about the Performance Center M327? It also holds 8 rounds of .357 Magnum but shorter which is easier to conceal and only 22.6 oz which makes it easier to carry all day.
 
627 for me. The .44 mag is a bit much as a defensive gun in my book.
Recoil is stout, slowing down any needed second (or third) shots. In fact, with the short barrels of those, I'd load +P .38 Special.
Then again, I'm a .357 kinda guy.

I picked the .357 Magnum. The .44 is kind of a lot of cartridge for the urban/suburban neighborhoods where I spend most of my time, and an extra couple of rounds don't hurt. Mostly, though, I'm glad I'm not limited to an N frame for EDC!
 
a 357/38 revolver can be loaded with ammo that is mild to wild, and easier to find and cheaper to buy than any 44 variant.
