I didn’t see anyone post about it here. Brickseek seems to be broken because I can’t get it to return inventory results. I tried about 10 of the Savage Axis rifles with no result and that seems highly improbable.

It’s not like I need another gun but it’s hard to turn down a bargain.

I would think the clearance sales are pretty much done at Wal-Mart. They dropped "scary tactical" rifles. Handguns and handgun ammo. Only stuff I see there are kid 22LRs, long barreled shotguns, entry bolt guns like Savage, and maybe a Henry 22. I expect firearms to be dropped entirely in a few years.

My Walmart here in Peachtree City, GA just burned down. Still under investigation for the cause, but they think it is arson. To me, this is good thing, other than the loss of people's jobs and tax money. I used to shop them 10 - 20 years ago. I remember 15 years ago they once had Federal 308 for $8.99 a box. I bought all they had, a thousand rounds. Since then, they haven't really had anything. Prices weren't competitive and they their selection was all crap. They stopped selling firearms many years ago. I don't even think they still have ammo, I don't know, as I don't shop them any more. I kind of wish they'd tear it down and put in some small type stores.

I'm fairly confident there was no big firearm liquidations this year. However the local stores did clearance off old stocks of other stuff as new fall items arrived. The local stores did show some optics on sale per the Walmart app. When I went to the store they could not locate the specific ones I wanted even though they were showing multiple units in stock when she checked their system.

Locally, all the firearms they had in stock were boxed up and returned to distribution. Manager said it was because they're starting to remodel, and that will be the case for all stores that are scheduled for remodeling... wasn't sure if they're done done or just done for now.

you say that on here, but I bet if they had a gun for $100 you would buy 4
Nah I’ll pass. Online and in real life. My morals are worth more then a few cheap guns. Only way I would buy from them IF they have a Blackhawk in 41 mag with a 7.5 in barrel for $100. But that want happen.

Did you ever wonder why Walmart can sell all their merchandise, every day, at such low prices?

The real short answer is that if you do not have to pay for something that you acquire, you can sell it at any price and make a profit.

I did "business" with them too many times. I would not purchase anything from them, even it was free. I will not go into their stores

What does this mean? They do not pay for their inventory?????

Some of us stopped buying any guns or ammo at Wal-Mart after they quit selling handgun ammo, (virtue signaled).

I should write a thesis on this subject. You could use the title "Walmart," "Costco,"Bed, Bath and Beyond," or any other big box as the title. But Walmart wrote the manual on how to get merchandise for nothing or next to nothing. The business plan is diabolical by making accounts payable a profit center.

I get a big laugh when I hear an entrepreneur bragging about getting his product line "into Walmart." That is about what he does. He does not make any money.

I do not want to hijack this thread any further, but if you wish more details we could go into chat here.

Brickseek.com is a website that (with various degrees of success) taps into the inventory and pricing database of Walmart and other big retailers. It allows you to see which stores have certain items on sale.

Our store just finished the great store reset. As I was walking through the sporting goods section I noticed both the gun and the knife display cases were gone. I stopped a floor manager to ask where they were now. "We are going to leave firing arms and that kind of stuff to Academy."

So partial retraction on what I said. I am not sure if it is one of Wal-Mart's big gun deals. But I visited an out of the way Wal-Mart I don't normally go to. And found a Savage 110 in 308Winchester, with scope for $400. I may have to go back when someone is at the counter to take a look.

In August of 2020 I bought a wood stocked Savage Axis .223 with a 3x9 scope for $184. I bought an unscoped Axis in 270 at a different store for $124.

Different animals. I will never own another Savage Axis. The 110s are much better.

I’m not sure what year it was, but the last year they had “blue lite specials” it was just before Christmas and I was shopping earlier in the day and got a $100 Walmart gift card for something and a buddy called and said they were closing out their centerfire rifles … when I was in earlier I saw they had a US model SiG SSG 3000 for $1700
I rushed back down and left with it for $1300 out the door
