I just acquired a howa mini action in 6.5 grendel with the 20"/ #6 profile heavy barrel. It has a weak plastic bottom metal and i want to replace it with an aftermarket aluminum one.Can any one recommend one.I was thinking the LOLO Tactical with the hinged bottom, are there any draw backs to this style.I also saw that DIP inc. Has one that takes the original howa mag .Any input would be appreciated due to my limited howa mini action experience.

Just a note, but that plastic mag housing is actually pretty tough in terms of being bashed and banged around. where they fail is if you over-tighten the action screws. Ive had 3 or 4 of them in use on 700s before the Magpul AICS parts became common.

IMO if your getting rid of the plastic well, then id go to a hinged floor plate. Otherwise, you still got that sticky-out magazine made from the same stuff you were worried about breaking in the guard.

I have a Howa in 7.62x39, and have wanted to swap out the bottom metal since I got it.

I like the idea of the hinged floor plate to eliminate the magazine all together, but the thing that gives me pause is the idea of trying to feed rounds through the fairly small ejection port. I have a one piece scope base that makes it even less accessible.

I'll be interested to hear if anyone has gotten one of those replacements with the floor plate and how they like it.
