Keep seeing this stuff pop up on FB. It has nearly 50,000 great reviews (although the bad reviews could be removed). I thought I saw a thread on it here once but couldn't locate it when I searched.

Just wondering if Shooter Lube Solvent and Oil is worth it?

Currently I've been using Slip2000.

First, that is 4,900 comments not 49,000 and even that is suspicious. I don't think shooters go to FB for info regarding
firearms and I darn sure don't trust FB. There is always some latest greatest cleaning product being hyped on the net. Pretty much all of them work. Reminds me of my ex wife who bought a really expensive vacuum cleaner, to her surprise she still
had to take it out of the closet and use it.

The more "tv used car" enthusiasm I see with ads for guns, accessories etc, the more I suspect the authenticity and quality.

They mean “Hurry Now, Before you can Think....!! “ Similar to very rushed/impatient wording on Armslist scams.

High quality products don't need such methods, because they are known to work.

 I'd love to show this to my wife but...

Surely a sign I'm getting old because I never cease to be amazed at the number of folks who "need" the latest hype product in an area where "the basics" are just as good and so, so much cheaper. Also, the number of folks who still can't seem to find anything by using the internet... Okay, rant over.

I've tried it, not bad, marginally better than CLP. There is one product that blew my doors off, and it's been around 50 years. A gun maker I know told me about G96. He said he sprays it on, lets it sit for 5 min., then blows it off with compressed air. Of course being the cleaning fanatic that I am, I poo-poo'd that idea. I bought some, followed his process, and it works! It appears as though it surrounds the residue, and suspends it, so it almost falls off. It bknds to the metal as a lubricant, and doesn't dry out like CLP.

For example -I shot 200 rounds through a PCC, using dirty powder in the loads. The round flat back of the barrel (Chamber face) had baked on ceramic like residue caked on. I sprayed it, let sit 5 min., then it all wiped off with a flimsy paper towel in 1 wipe. I couldn't believe it. I spray it in the barrel, on bolts, inside striker pistol firing mechanisms. Those blow out with air, and they look factory new. I have unopened quarts of CLP breakfree and KG1 cleaner that were expensive, and now don't need. :(

It doesn't have toxic smelling fumes either. It's $20 a can, but the guy that recommended it says it should last a year. He uses it on his full autos too. My last cleaner ever.

If it worked on carbon ring it would fly off the shelf... I'm not amused by snake oil. If it doesn't come out with a soak in mineral spirits or scrub out with a copper chore boy then come the heavy hitter abrasives. That's seldom to never.

Are you talking about the G96?

No no no. If a bottle of Rem oil is $1.98 at this store and $3.98 at that store under a different name. I'd rather pay the $3.98. Makes me special.

I'll confess that I've definitely been under the spell of good advertising before, but, like I noted, I'm old enough now to realize that "shine" isn't what makes a product work...

Oh, and to stay on topic and answer the OP's question: Probably not. Haven't found anything that works better than Hoppes... or synthetic engine oil if you need to get high tech.

You should never have to go beyond Slip2000 for anything, you have some of the very best there is, so no, I don't think it would be worth it. I use Slip2000 lube and grease alot for all kinds of guns and it's in no way lacking and you'd have a hard time convincing me that any other brand of lubricant could be better. There are only a few imo to be weary of, but Slip is g2g and if it ain't broke it don't need fixing...

It looks like "Shooter Lube" has spent some money on advertising, and that's great, I'll bet it's probably great stuff (Looks like dyed kero) and the advertising did its job by getting your interest, but I doubt it's better than what you are using and if it was, I doubt you or I could prove it.
