Aaron Hogue's L29 jet went down hard at the Reno Race. The crash did not look survivable.

It took me a second to figure out what any of this meant too.

“Aaron Hogue is the Owner and President of Hogue, Inc. Hogue manufactures several product lines, primarily firearm accessories and knives.”

He also had an affinity for racing jets.

If you have never seen those races (Reno) it is really amazing. Think F1 racing turned up to 11 in every area, and nascar, that is just kiddy carts.

I am shocked they still do it.

This incident may kill the 60 year old event.

All about insurance. Something we need to watch in our sport.

I am generally the one that makes these kind of links only for a mod to shut down the thread saying "not what THR is here for"

I've seen several of the brothers or other relatives shooting at ICORE and USPSA matches. They support the matches big time. All nice guys.

Yikes! At least he died (i assume) doing something he loved and likely didnt feel much. To me, if it was his own plane, the event has no liability for the accident. Kinda like other forms of racing, death is a known possibility.
Aviation accidents attract lawyers who sue everyone within a hundred miles, especially if they have deep pockets, or even if they're charities for helping disabled kids. Seen it happen.

If the gun control crowd can't make a dent in the 2nd Amendment, their next best avenue is insurance. What they can't do with gun laws they can do by crippling cost prohibitive insurance.

Examples: When I was selling airplanes several years ago, 1/3 the cost of a plane was liability insurance. Using the air races as another example, racers pay a premium per lap, This alone significantly thinned the field.

We have a battlefront on many sides.

I’m sorry for the Hogue family loss. Team Hogue supported me when I failed to make power factor at IRC a few years back, telling the RO something had to be wrong with his chrono. Sure enough there was and on re-check I passed.
