Did some small changes on my mini 14.

And yet, no pickshurs!

Its not hard to find on line and inexpensive. I use it quite a bit on... everything... firearms, airguns, appliances etc. etc.

Ive used the Ruger mounts for many years (with a drop of blue LocTite) and never had one come loose.

looks good. You didnt make it ugly with a bunch of rails and sillyness. Only thing I would add is maybe a simple sling.

I make my own because I am picky. Slings are pretty easy to put together. For a few dollars you can make something just how you want it.

No canvas there but lots of Milspec webbing and hardware in different colors. Just throwing the idea out there. I try to get people to be creative with stuff like this.

Yeah, the loose scope problem on the Mini’s are because of their mounting style. Those 25 degree or whatever Dovetail cuts. It’s just a bad a design! Reminds me of the Cetme & HK G3 style on the receiver. Basically a claw mount. And they just can’t hold up to anything. There is no “STOP” which limits forward creep of the scope mount or rings. Given the Pros & Cons, I prefer a side scope mount for the Mini. With a Picatinny rail. And topped with high quality 7075 rings. This setup, when properly installed, works very well.

nylon slings are strong but a little to slick for me on the shoulder

Ok, that’s not as bad. I just like my slings to double as, oh.., TOW STRAPS if I need! Scuba Nylon is the best. And I like single point than can convert to 2-point.

yes I use scuba nylon for my spear gun when hunting great whites

I found a black canvas M-14 sling at a gun show, works well on the Mini and I think it looks good, too.

Some of my Rugers have a stop built in to one ring. I dont recall which, maybe the M77 MkIIs. Granted, its a very small stop, but it is there. Its a small tab that fits in to a small cut on the top of the ring mount area.
