If you get a tight nipple it will twist. If you want a good nipple wrench get a Ted Cash.

That looks like a better wrench! I guess I’ll
return this one.

It isn't a Traditions vs Uberti thing, it's a Colt vs Remington thing. 'standard' wrenches are made to fit Colts and are not necked back to clear the frame on Remington's. I got bit the same way when I started out with a Colt repro and got an 1858 next year.

oooh yeah, they are not all the same!

What wrench do you use now?

how did you make it?

Here is the first nipple wrench I ever made a decade ago now.

Here is a link to an old post where I described building it below.
Even though the bolt I used was marked grade 8 I don't think it was actually as hard as it was supposed to be because I didn't have an especially hard time working with it. You don't want to use too soft of a bolt though either. The bolt I used was a left over automotive bolt from some repair project and I've heard it said that in the 70s or 80's somewhere there were a lot of fasteners that didn't actually meet spec in the automotive world so I think it was hardened, but not really to grade 8 spec at least not any more by the time I used it.

I've had nothing but issues with the traditions wrenches. Most of them don't grab the flats well or are so soft they twist/break.

This is a great wrench that will work with tight recesses like your Rem NMA, mine has taken some pretty tight nipples out with no issues.

The Ted Cash as mentioned is another good one.

thanks! I’m returning the Tradition wrench, I probably won’t buy any of their stuff, except their Pietta Guns. very low quality

The Slixshot nipple folks make a good wrench too. Track of the Wolf also sells good wrenches for revolver nipples. That's what I use.
