What is your favorite revolver "platform" ? Do you prefer Smith J/K/L/N/X frames ? Single Action Revolvers of the Colt '73 or Remington '75/'90 pattern ? Colt C/D/E/I/SF/etc ? Ruger Service line, or perhaps the SP/GP/RH/SRH/BH/SBH lines ?

What is your favorite cartridge in pairing with your favorite platform, and why ?

Six-shot, four-inch, DA/SA-capable, around K-frame size if centerfire, J-frame if rimfire. Examples I own are Ruger Police Service Six, S&W Model 67, S&W Model 63.

For concealed carry, J-frame (five or six-shot depending on caliber), three-inch, all-steel, DA/SA-capable. Example I own is Taurus stainless 85 3".

Way to come up with a personal stumper, @Mr. Mosin

I love my J, K, & N frame Smith & Wessons. I also love my Ruger Vaqueros and GP100. I think I will need to get an L frame, a Redhawk and an SP101 and get back to you. ;)

A K frame S&W, followed by a J frame S&W and the N frame also, see a trend? I love them all and they all have a purpose. I like Ruger Single Actions and a few Colts as well. I like everything revolver!

Ruger Super Redhawk frame - preferably with a Bowen GP44 nose job. So much opportunity for so much horsepower, all wedged into a frame which is still serviceable as a belt gun. My favorites are 475 Linebaugh, and an upcoming 357/44 Bain & Davis (Gen 2 of my B&D Redhawk).

Absolute favorite is the Taurus medium/large frame. Specifically the frame upon which the 66 series is built. Also a bunch of the best Rossi revolvers use that frame, and I believe that the Cyclops does as well. The frame is essentially a copy of the L frame S&W, and truth be told the S&W guns pre-1980ish were built better but the Brazilian Bull really pulled off some incredible work with the Taurus 689, Rossi 742, cyclops, etc. with a little work they slick up and do as well as or better than their more expensive counterparts.

And yes, I have shot a lowly Taurus 689 against both a Python and a 686 (at different times) and both times came away happy I had my Taurus. It’s the one gun I truly regret letting go of… but I let it go to get a “better” gun in a gp100. Notice that the GP100 is nowhere else in the discussion of my favorites. There’s a reason for that.

Of what all I've shot and handled, not necessarily what I own; my vastly preferred favorite would be a 4-5/8" Ruger New Vaquero in .45 Colt - points like the hand of God Himself, and hits like a bolt of lightning. My runner up would be a 5" factory nickeled pre-M10, c. 1950, w/ checked service grips.

N-frames for me too. They just feel so good in my beefy clubs and soak up some recoil in my big bores.

N frames for me.

Lately my 625 45 acp/auto rim. Going to the range this week with my Blackhawk in 44 mag.

N frames hands down, my primary collecting interest. 44 Special is my favorite as that covers my favorites, the first three models.
