Urban Daily Backpack Gun

Times seem to have changed.

I had (have) a kit gun but not sure how it might compare.

When you say Backpack Gun I take it you mean for bug out purpose. The Sig looks cool.
If you are looking for backpacking camp gun I would go with a 357 or 10mm if both 2 & 4 legged threats exist.
Hiking day pack I like a 41 or 44 mag. Because everyone needs to have a big revolver (THR Enablers)

one’s choice of a backpack firearm largely depends on locale and physical ability of backpacker. i lean to a rimfire single action revolver, not a rifle, because i can, both the piece and 50 rounds of ammo are lighter, i would likely shoot single action anyway, and i face a dearth of four-legged apex predators. a ruger single six is a tad heavy but offers the versatility of both 22wmr/lr ammo, fieldstrips into only three components, has no springs or mags to lose or fumble with. a heritage roughrider is cheaper by over half, but is certainly less robust. a ruger bearcat is lighter, and a ruger wrangler is cheaper, than a single six, but these two revolvers only come in 22lr.

I gotta admit it really does depend on where you are backpacking. In the East Coast woods and mountains the Kit gun was near perfect. Accurate, light and you could carry enough ammo to go from Georgia to Pennsylvania or Maryland to Maine. When I lived in Arizona and wandered out in the desert or Superstitions it was usually a 1917 or New Service.

To me one of the best backpack survival/bugout guns was the discontinued Springfield M6 Folding Gun. Top barrel was .22RF and lower barrel was a .410 shotgun. Adding .410 slugs made the gun an almost guaranteed manstopper. My buddy took a whitetail doe with his and a slug at 70 yards and even took several quail with the shotshell. It's a shame they discontinued the gun. The only drawback after you got comfortable with the sights was the grip/squeeze lever as opposed to a standard trigger.

For a number of years when I was going to school (in a very Urban setting) I use to carry a small .380, like an AMT Back-Up, in my backpack along with a Gerber River Master knife.

Sold the last Back-Up I had to fund a new Colt Mustang, which I still have along with the knife.

It does seem that way.

I have a 300BO pistol as my primary carryabout urban defense long gun. My Stribog was also a consideration because it's shorter when folded, but it's also a fair bit heavier.

You take the gun only in order to have it At the gym?

I'm stumped. It must be a very tough neighborhood for a workout.

If I were going to carry in a backpack for urban activities, it would be a PCC or an AR pistol in 300 BO. However, if you get stopped/searched for any reason its going to really raise some eyebrows. Are you carrying something like this on public transit and walking in the park or mall, or will this sit in your car's trunk?

I’m not really sure how a gigantic .300 blackout pistol is much better than just about any normal full sized hand gun. I’ve shot them and they are awkward. I can shoot a regular hand gun out to 100 yards proficiently and would choose anything from a Sig P365, a 1911, a 20 round wonder 9 or just about any 6 shot .38 special over some novelty gun.

The Ruger PCC sounds like the weapon you need. I’m not familiar with other take-down rifles. But once it’s in your hands, 2 full seconds to assemble it. Glock mags.

I’ve shot 2.5” groups @50 yards with mine, not really trying. Just a load I grabbed outta the book for my Glocks, then ran through the rifle.

I’m sure it could do better with some work but I’m not trying to get rifle accuracy with that gun, just ammo that is accurate, reliable for all weapons in that caliber. Basically one size fits all ammo.

Let me get this straight; you feel that it's not safe to go to the gym without carrying Sig Rattler in your backpack?
What kind of gym is this and in which neighborhood - the Taleban Crossfit 24/7 in Kabul???

We sometimes do basic gun disarmament practice in Krav Maga class.

But using plastic guns, or with pliable plastic knives.

I thought my CZ P 07 was bulky. I'm working out someplace else if'n I need a crew served weapon to feel safe. Not having any idea where you live causes wild speculations. Joe
