My new Colt came in and I am impressed with the initial quality out of the box. The trigger is smoother than any DA .22 I bought new. I shot it a few times to sight it in then ran about 100 rounds with no miss-fires. It's a little smaller than my S&W 617's, similar in size to an SP101.

Looks awesome!
I do wish they offered a wide hammer and trigger- at least as an option, Id pay for the upgrade- and the visible MIM gate marking on the side of the trigger is slightly annoying, but overall I say big kudos to Colt for offering this model.
I especially like the very nicely detailed 1-piece barrel and the overall fit and finish seem great.

Its definitely on my list for Santa.:)

Now, the most important question- will your speed loader work with the Colt? :D

Unfortunately the 617 speed loaders don't fit the Colt. The Colt is an odd duck as far as cylinder size, (the firing pin hits the rim bottom as apposed to the top) the outside diameter is a little smaller than the 617 but has the larger array pattern of the GP100 but the GP loaders are a little too big outside to clear the frame of the Colt and can damage the finish if used. I'm looking to see if a redesign is possible for Colt.
Added info:
(Good news, I just made some loaders that work, they will be available in the near future at Revolver Supply)

I wonder if the FP hitting the inner edge is connected to their decision to go with an unrecessed or caged cylinder. Maybe they figure any case ruptures will be directed inwards, thus mitigating the risk of injury?
Certainly skipping the extra machining saves manufacturing cost, though I suppose the FP position may just be for packaging and its a coincidence.
Ive never actually experienced a ruptured .22 case myself, thankfully

When I first saw the Colt I was concerned about what happens with rim failures, they are rare but I have seen a couple during the last 30 or so years of competition shooting. I usually stand on the left side when I'm the RO doing the range commands and running the timer because most shooters are flinging brass out the right from semi-autos. I'll make sure the RO stays back a little when I'm running the Colt in case a rim failure happens, I don't think the shooter is at much risk but someone standing beside them might be.

So, if the OP has any trigger time on the new model King Cobra in .357, how do the triggers compare?

My compliments as well on the photos. Mind telling us what you used to take them?

I thought this forum had rules against porn.

Good doG that is a good looking revolver. I am real interested in the 357, and a 22 I think would just be so much fun. I have yet to see one in the flesh myself, but if it looks half as good as they do in the photos my hand may break the speed of sound on its way to my wallet.

How would you compare the DA trigger pull between the KC, GP, and 617?

If all 3 were new out of the box the Colt is the best. My three 617's and my GP100 were pretty tough when new but now are much better after polishing, new springs and many many rounds fired. I don't think I'll change anything on the Colt, it should only get better with use. One thing the Colt trigger is not as wide as the others and to me makes it feel harder than it really is, IMO it could be much better with a wider one.

I can't believe anyone can look at that and not see a level of fit & finish not seen on S&W in decades. Or Ruger, ever.
While I was looking over the OP's superb photos, I was thinking exactly the same thing!

(Pretty much what I'm thinking when I look at my two 2020 Pythons next to my one remaining 686 (a dash 5).

Almost seems blasphemy to ask, but is it drilled and tapped for a RDS mount? Eyes need help with those little 22 holes.
