The 17-2 K-22 Target Masterpiece is a great gun. Get some good standard velocity ammo like CCI sv or Aguilla and it will shoot tiny groups at 25 yards.

Very nice and a great price, you could also get some brownells Oxpho Blue, and very fine steel wool and spot touch up the bluing and it will look nicer.

hopefully to the range in the next couple of days. have to research on how to apply oxypho blue.

Fun shooting gun, my 17 no dash from 1959.

That old thing won't shoot...I'll give ya 600$...then, go get the 8" version, now that will shoot.

i still haven't taken it to the range, between a new puppy that has to be taken out every couple of hours and cold temps( for me at least) i just haven't gone.

Some of the nicest Smith and Wesson had to offer. You're going to love them both. I have a pre 14 K38 that shipped in 1947, a 14-4 that shipped in 1972, and a 17-3 that shipped in 1980. 20221120_155859.jpg

They really got everything right when they designed the K-frame. For me, the 17-4 came first, about 25yrs ago. I wandered a lot of miles, popped a lot of critters and mulched the landscape with empty .22 hulls with it.

A year later I got a screaming deal on an 18-3.

A year later I found a 14-4 brand new in the box in an old gun shop that time had forgot.

Congrats on the new to you acquisition. Much as I like my Ruger single actions and black powder revolvers, the K-38 and K-17 are superb shooters. They are included in my will. They aren't going anywhere until I do. :D
