Rock island vr60?

A what? Never heard of it.

Seen them in a shop. AR type shotguns really don't interest me, though. The fit and finish are acceptable for that type of shotgun, that's about all I can say.

Yep, they shoot great after you break them in with 50rds or so of high brass loads like 00buck. Until then, they may not cycle reliably with target loads or birdshot.
You can't leave the mags loaded for extended periods with any mag fed shot gun. The plastic hulls deform in a few weeks and may not feed.

I will tell you this, you can decide for yourself. A buddy of mine bought a VR60, then shot my VR80, he wishes he had gotten the VR80. I see no advantage of the 60 over the 80.

I left the magazines loaded for over a year, they cycled just fine. I suspect keeping them loaded in a hot place (like a car trunk in summer) will cause the shells to deform.

They do like some break-in, A few hundred rounds of 1200+ fps birdshot. They say that after that, they will cycle anything. I'm sticking to hotter velocity shells. Maybe if I happen into some lesser shells I will try them to see what happens. I have 5, 10, and 20 rd drum magazines, they all cycle just fine. I had a couple of failures to feed with my first 60 or so rounds, nothing after.

They are good shotguns as long as you dont get a lemon. Once you break them in they will run anything you feed them. I own a vr80 and after a hundred rounds of buckshot it cycles great and it patterns pretty good to. I also own a panzer ar12 and I believe its just a rebranded vr60 with a different look and it shoots good to. I personally prefer the 80 but tbh they both shoot about the same so just go with whatever your budget allows.

With the VR80, you can change out the stocks if you get an adaptor or different buffer tube. With the VR60, you are stuck with what it is.

If it was me, I would get the VR80.

If RIA backs them the same as they do their pistols, you don't need to worry about getting a lemon.

I don't know about that. I purchased one of their double stack 10mm's and it was a lemon. I sent it in to them and it was still a lemon when it came back. So it can happen. Im not bagging the brand as a whole by any means, but they do put out a bad one from time to time.
