Bond Arms

Well I finally got the .38/.357 barrel to the range and shot only 24 rounds because I was more focused on continuing to break in my new 1911. Anyway I shot three different .38 special rounds, 105 (Cavalry), 130 (Winchester White Box), and 158 grain (Norma) and a 158 grain .357 Magnum (Cavalry). As would be expected these were progressively more recoil. The .357s were not terrible, but not something I want to shoot much if anymore. Just like the .45 Colt barrel, I prefer the 180 grain cowboy loads to the 250 grain. Really, I would be inclined to stick with the 105 grain rounds for this gun at least for range fun. This is the 105 grain:

These would not be a bad choice either and I have shot these out of my revolvers:

I’m happy to shoot wadcutters or standard pressure out of mine.

+++ for cavalry ammo. about the best-priced, reduced-recoil, 38sp ammo available. 9mm, 380acp and 32long are fine buys too. free shipping for veterans.

Dang, 18 pages of Bond Arms commentaries. I happen to have one, .45/ 410 which is a nicely made little boomer, but, the trigger is really, really poor, so it sets in my tool box in the shop loaded for snakes.
I really tried to like the thing, but its just not happening.
I'm glad you poster's are liking them, I didn't realize they have a substantial following.

I now have 8 with a total of 15 barrels. Does that qualify as substantial? :D

As to the trigger; yes. A bit heavy and long but they were never intended for 2700 aggregate competition. I'm told, however, that SASS shooters are quite fond of them.

I get it. They aren’t for everyone. As far as modern derringers, they are the quality maker today. For many of us, it’s a combination of collectible, fun, and historical. The trigger is probably the biggest downside.

Yes Sir, that is substantial. If a guy's going to like something it might as well go bang. I can see why people are attracted to them. Its a fun little thing.

Well, i liked mine well enough to buy it. And it certainly is a quality little pistol, i had hoped the trigger would smooth out with use, not yet however.
I may see if a trigger job would peak my interest, anyone have any experience doing that to visit with?

They’re good manstoppers.

Two shots of .410 magnum 000 buckshot will solve just about any problem the average civilian can expect to run into.

Reliability is extremely high. They pack and carry extremely well. The versatility of being able to load for four, two, and no legged predators is a huge benefit.

You could do FAR worse for an all-purpose packing pistol.

Lays really nice and flat in the pocket. Should not print unless you are wearing tights! And I hope nobody here (guys anyway) wears tights!

risky business, do you have a gen1 or gen2 (indented trigger, wider hammer spur)? the latter’s trigger mechanism was improved; i would hate to try a gen1.
