I second that.

Is this to gather a tiny sample of what might be statistically average for random gun owners,

or is it simply to "compare and contrast" personal interests with (mostly) seasoned gun owners?

Many of us here don't welcome any deceptive "Everytown...*** " probes.

So ima gonna say who cares about the drive by….

I have mostly one for each category but maybe several for a few others. Some it is the same gun. I won’t be able to remember all the categories so here goes.

Shotgun General Purpose (small game, birds, etc.)
Deer Shotgun for shot gun zones
Turkey Shotgun
Rifle for straight wall zones
Rifle for normal rifle zones
ML for muzzleloading seasons
Rimfire for small game and varmints
Rimfire for hogs where there are statutes against centerfire during certain times of year
CcW handgun
Plinking handgun

Others may have

Cowboy Action rifles and handguns
Long range hunting and shooting rifles
Competition rifles and handguns
Airguns
And on and on

IOW, there is no one size fits all. You can’t be a one gun guy if you CCW, Hunt big and small game, and hunt pheasants.

Variety is the spice of life.

My interests gradually changed, but having never been exposed to hunting, I've never owned what is a true hunting gun. Never owned a scope.

Basically milsurp guns have been the primary interest, or those which have the same character - if they are known as high quality.

Anyway after many guns, now my only centerfire rifles are the VZ-58, a Maadi AKM and pair of PTR-91s.

The ATF knew about most of these because of the gun shops' background checks, so there is no reason to play games, and pretend that the ATF never knew about such guns.....many .people out there are so Funny sometimes.

Now have just a few handguns, two for carry and the others for econ. practice/fun: .22 LR.

I guess I’m not sure.

I have several hunting rifles, I use a couple of them frequently.
I have many handguns, I carry 2 of them.
I have multiple shotguns, one I use a lot.

To answer the original question: no.

I own and like a variety of firearms---multiple handguns, multiple rifles, and multiple shotguns. Some are for defensive use, some for recreational shooting, and some for collecting (shot occasionally).

I’ve always had only a few guns at a time. Minimal overlap. While I am very proficient with all the guns I’ve owned, I prefer single actions for handguns and am the most comfortable with them.

I have a friend that trades regularly. I’ve taken on several occasions a gun I’ve never handled before, and fired it on paper and gotten 3” groups at 15 yards. Once you have some skills built up, most guns are similar enough to be able to be proficient with them. An exception would be maybe a desert eagle.

Ive traded a lot in the past.

I have rifles, shotguns, and handguns. Revolvers, pistols, single shot, bolt action, double barrels, pumps, lever action, semi auto and muzzleloades.

No. It strikes me though that every pistol of mine, that I have any experience with, feels familiar when I pick it up. A Tokarev and a Walther PP and a Webley revolver are very different guns but I don’t spend a fraction of a second puzzling about their operation when using them. Good aiming and trigger control are habits I’ve either acquired or I haven’t.
Now, admittedly, I’m not remotely expert with any of them. But I wouldn’t be if I’d only ever owned one, either. So I may as well enjoy the variety and the breadth of knowledge that variety can offer.

I have an archive of weapons.
After all, I'm an archivist.

I collect and use S&W 45 ACP revolvers. Got a bunch of them because I consider them the best available for my purposes. Do I have other revolvers chambered for other cartridges? Yes, but not many.

Too many.

I do not have a plethora, just 1 shotgun, well two if I count my Bond Arms .410 Derringer, the Derringer in .45 Colt/.410 and .38 Special/.357 Magnum barrels, 6 revolvers ranging from .22LR to .45 Colt, and 4 semi-autos ranging from .32 ACP to .45 ACP. I want more guns. I should really get some kind of rifle though.

Kind of yes. I have one shotgun, one carbine, and one service/carry handgun I focus on entirely for defensive use. I do own several other guns, but they are really more of a casual interest now. I train with and reload for the primary set of guns.
