Leave alone or camo it

That wood has such nice natural color. Even if a unique stain was added, it still Looks like wood.

To me camo is only appealing when it is on plastic or generic cloth, none of which has any attractive tones---

---or when you Need to hide in the frozen woods of Kherson Ukraine because your Russian officers ran away..:scrutiny:

I agree that if you need it camo just wrap it. That's some nicely figured wood in the stock, and with all the laminate and plastic stocks out there it would be a shame to paint over a nice stock like that.

One thing is for sure, you will hurt the value of it if you do. If I wanted to paint a rifle, I’d probably pick something else.

However, I see brand new cars that people have covered the paint with a plastic wrap, so there are certainly tastes out there that I don’t understand.

I do have a rifle that I purchased years ago, stored in a hot water heater closet by the previous owner. Like new in function, bore and wood but exterior metal freckled with surface rust. I have thought about having it dipped before (hydrographic camo seems to hold up better than paint) but it still kills stuff the way it’s always looked…

First off, good on you for not only choosing an ironic American rifle, and also a really sweet cartridge.
My opinion probably doesn't mean much, but I'm impressed.
Secondly, were it my setup, I would burlap strip wrap the rifle. With changing seasons, just rewraping with a different pattern/ color seems easier than having more and more coats of paint. Either way congratulations on a nice set up.

Put me in the "leave it be" camp. Get a hunting rifle in a better caliber for actual shooting if you need a camo gun. Shoot this one on Sundays. The only thing really going for this gun is the looks and nostalgia. So why scrap that value to make a mediocre hunting gun? Yes, I have hunted with a .22 Hornet. Liked my .222 Rem. Mag better for loading and shooting.

No you should not camo that rifle. Some dime a dozen AR15 or plastic stocked bolt action - go for it. Ruin whatever little value those guns have.
I don't get the spray on camo thing. Unless you're playing rambo, have Red Dawn fantasies WOLVERINES!!! or are actually in the military, what's the point when wearing a blaze orange hat and vest? I wear blue jeans hunting.

I have already changed the value of it by converting it to a K Hornet! It shoot better after the conversion. But still decreased the value

It's been converted to a K Hornet already so loading isn't a issue. & Head spacing off the shoulder took care of the flyer issue from most Hornet rifles

predator hunting blaze orange is not a requirement. I carry a orange beanie in my pack so if I get something I don't get shot carrying it out .
