If I have it correct Palmetto made the first offer at $65M. They didn’t go higher. I read that in an article which appeared to be a mainstream media outlet but who knows.

Bankruptcy courts can add lots of conditions even if only one bidder.
 
Product pricing isn’t always (ever?) intuitive…

Headline today in WSJ “Restaurants Add Chicken Deals As Prices Sink”

Article reads in part “Prices for chicken breasts in US have plunged about 70% since the first week of June”

At the same time, yesterday an article mentioned over 50million USA chickens have been destroyed this year due to Avian flu and another 2 million must now be at a Midwest facility.

So not all shortages or should I say reductions result in higher prices.

Just 2 weeks ago I purchased 1K 9mm - CCI/Blazer 124gr fmj - for a total of $260 delivered.
May of '22 I purchased an identical case for $380.

late 2019, I bought Tula .223/1,000 for $189 shipped. it helped me through the Plandemic for cheap mag dumps! best stress relief

What “HR” hit would they take by adding more labor? Direct labor is 100% variable to volume.

Having said that, their capacity constraints may not be workers. It could be facilities or equipment, therefore, in those situations adding more labor wouldn’t help.

Regardless, no company leaves demand (revenue) on the table and lays off workers to save money on labor. That’s just not the way it works.

I think the only primers I would pay current prices for are large pistol. I don’t “need” them now or in the near future but I will eventually need them to keep my .44’s/.45’s running. For the .44Mag and .45Colt I am happy hogging out the primer pockets for large rifle but I don’t want to do that for the .44Spl or my Rossi and Taurus shorties will have problems. Large rifle in .45ACP and .45AR works for all my guns but I don’t have an inexhaustible supply of them. Best thing to do is wait until I can find them for under $60 or plan on switching to small primer .45Auto.

Just before Sandy Hook during Thanksgiving weekend the then Gander Mountain was having a sale on 5.56 NATO. The Federal stuff was $300.00 an ammo can of 1,000 rounds, Steel cans. Gander Mountain was about a 10 min ride up the Interstate. So Thanksgiving morning I am reading the flyer and mentioned to my wife that price is pretty good. She says if you want a few go buy them. I debated and figured why not? So I went and bought a few. Then came Sandy Hook and the rest is history.

When Cabela's was closing out Seller & Bellot large rifle primers a few years ago they were selling for $18 a thousand. so I figure why not and screwed my order up trying to use a $25 gift card I had gotten for Christmas. I ended up ordering 10,000 rather than the 5,000 I planned. Well I ordered 5,000 but did it twice. Mentioned it to wife and she said if you want them just leave things alone. Hell I still had thousands of primers from the gun shop we owned early and mid 90s. They still work. :)

At the start of this pandemic nonsense I had a member from this forum drive from Pittsburg PA to me in Cleveland to buy a small mountain of assorted powder from me. I think maybe 50 or 60 Lbs which I sold for $10 a Lb. Real nice guy with his pregnant wife along for the ride. :) I would never have used that powder and as of now still have plenty. Things like primers, bullets and brass have a hell of a long shelf life. I was happy to see the powder go and he was a happy camper.

Yeah, when they were clearing out their Seler & Bellott they went out for $18 per thousand so I figured at $18 per 1,000 I would drop $90 for 5,000 primers. So I ended up dropping $180 for 10,000 primers. Hey, if anyone here in NE Ohio needs large rifle S&B primers I will part with some of them. Face to face here in the Cleveland suburbs. :) I also have a vintage 92 Harley Davidson Electro Glide less than 10,000 miles with the reverse package and a pile of extra parts, oil and transmission oil, plugs, all sorts of stuff. It does have an ignition problem for which I have more parts. Was waiting till spring but I will take $5,500 cash for it. Hell nice classic but I seldom ride it anymore. :) So if anyone wants a classic 92 let me know. :) Getting old for the bike.

Back when gas was hovering around the $1/gal mark and $3.50/hr was a fairly good blue collar starting wage, primers ran $13-15/1000 - and some of us complained about it. The Carter Malaise was over and Ronnie was getting the economy booming again, so prices ought to be getting back to “normal” - around $11/1000, by golly!

That’s $36 & $30 in today’s dollars, respectively. When reminiscing about the old days, don’t forget to adjust for inflation and the value of the dollar.

And I left the FBI for DOD and didn’t even touch a firearm again until very late 1999 (when I was preparing for securing my home and family from the marauding Y2K gangs out to steal my Spam stash) and still had only a general idea about regular folks reloading in their basement. And bought a new house for $140K. Today that’s not a good down payment.

Well, I'm at the opposite end...Dayton suburbs, but my wife wants a roadtrip to the Cleveland area. Should that come to pass anytime soon I'll be happy to relieve your overstock of LRP. Just started loading for 6.8 SPC...and R-P and PPU brass takes large rifle. I picked up 5 sleeves at Cabela's a few weeks ago...but that may not last long. That said...I have plenty of SRP and just added to my 6.8 SPC small primer brass bottle.
