Which 308-243-6.5 AR would you buy

I currently own a POF Rogue and an Falkor Omega and I’m pretty happy with both of them. I have owned a couple of SCAR-17s, a DPMS, a Windham, a POF Revolution, a couple of Aero Precision M5 builds, and spent a lot of time behind an Sig 716. I pig hunt with the Rogue and it’s basically perfect for that role. It’s the lightest 308 AR on the market and it really does feel just like an AR-15 in the hands. For a long range role, I don’t think there’s much better than my Omega, but it’s an absolute tank of a rifle and I rarely use it other than on range days.

Of the other rifles I’ve owned the Revolution is the only one I kinda regret getting rid of other than the light (ish) 6.5 CM I built on the Aero Precision receivers. The rest were either too heavy or in the case of the SCARs, I just felt like they weren’t worth the hype. Not terribly accurate. Not extremely light. Balanced poorly and even with the Geisele trigger and KDG butt stock, the user interface just kinda seemed lacking.

Edit to add: I did play with a Ruger SFAR a couple weeks ago and I think they are a strong competitor for the Rogue at a much better price point. Worth a look in my opinion.

JMO, but I wouldn`t tarry too long in making a decision and a purchase. I`d want to ensure that mine would qualify for a grandfather clause. Some may trust our esteemed politicians to ensure the future availability of AR platforms, but I don`t. Sorry, not trying to derail.

I have two AR10 "mutts" or "mongrels" uppers. One in .308WIN, and one in 6.5CM. Put them together from a hodge-podge of parts, but they are good enough for steel target shooting. 960 yards for the 6.5CM, and 800 for the .308. Both have heavy barrels, and thus, I can shoot long strings of fire. Both of them share a PSA lower, with a two-stage 4.5LBS drop-in trigger, an a PRS stock. With optics, they top the scale at or around 12 Lbs. They are dual purpose: I get to shoot, and at the end of the range session, I feel like I have been lifting free weights!
I do shoot my buddies SCARs, and I do like the rifle, but the price!
My mutts and all of their parts are less expensive than the SCAR, without optics, cool bipod, and the rest of the bells and whistles.
IF I were to purchase a production rifle, it would be the SCAR, even with their reciprocating charging handle.

Sounds cool!

The Ruger SFAR or POF would be good choices for a rifle that will be carried a lot when hunting. I like to see PSA bring back the DPMS Gen II or similar.

I have a PSA Gen 1 PA10 with a 20" barrel, Primary Arms 4-14 scope and MagPul PRS stock and that thing is heavy. While it functions reliably and is accurate, I sure don't want to carry it around while hunting.

Without getting into a caliber war, I will suggest either 6.5CM or 308 since ammo is easier to find than 243 ammo. But all three will work just fine for hunting and target shooting. It's more of a personal preference as far as I am concerned, you won't go wrong with any of the three.

Here is my PA10 before I put the MagPul PRS on it.

I would own a SFAR in 6 ARC before any of the other choices. Much cheaper to feed.

The 6 ARC fits and feeds from any standard AR15 lower and doesn't need a 308 sized receiver. While I do love my 6 ARC rifle, factory ammo has been hard to find since Hornady is the only one manufacturing 6 ARC ammo. And Hornady brass is all there is for the reloader too unless one wants to resize 6.5 Grendel brass.

Understood but everything is overpriced right now. When the bottom drops, it will be the one to own.

I like shooting 6 ARC and it does well at long distances while fitting into an AR15.

Already owning the 6 ARC makes choosing between 6 CM and 6.5 CM a little harder for me for reasons I stated earlier.
