I have my suspicions that many here may be sending in some paperwork to the federales. Let’s simply put the date we send in our paperwork. When we start getting stamps approved we can post that date too, that way the others can know when to be on the lookout. I need to do paperwork on 2. So far I’m a slacker. Surely somebody has their ducks in a row and already submitted paperwork.

And just as a reference…(my understanding, please someone confirm) we have until may 31 to submit for the grandfathering of the legal weapons we own.

I don’t know about summiting this form. I just feel that these regulations will be overturned in court and not really wanting to send the AFT photos of something they deemed illegal… anybody else?. My other concern will be, does it have to stay in that brace configuration of will it be completely a true SBR

Too many questions and concern for a $200 free bee. But, to each his own, let’s track the progress of people Brace Form! any takers???

No, they already have my info.
You can put a real stock on it after you receive your approved stamp back.

I am not even going to decide for another 60-90 days. One of mine I will for sure trash as it wont be worth the hassle. (Glock chassis) The others I am on the fence about. One of them I keep in my RV so that is the biggest hurdle I must decide on.

I have most of the paperwork completed for three of mine just need to go get fingerprints done. That being said, I'll still be waiting at least 60 days to see what happens with the court cases before I submit.

It will most likely take more than 120 days for any of the court cases to be heard by a judge. At best would be to hope for a temporary injection until a judge hears each case. The Second Amendment Foundation has had a case going before the final rule was released and should have a hearing within the next few days or so. Hopefully the SAF gets a win right away or at minimum an injunction.

On topic:

It will be interesting to see how soon the ATF starts proving the tax free form 1s

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist , but in the back of my mind I wonder if this is an idea to set precedence for an " assault weapon " registry . If they get as many new registered SBR's as they are claiming , they are going to have a healthy percentage of them , and if in the future they get a court that is more favorable to them , lookout . this is going to double , triple or more the amount of NFA registered items . In somewhere between a couple months to a year?

It will still be interesting to see which one you get back first.

Yeah......I would surely bet it'll be the eform 1, as I can only speculate that because it is separated on the BATFE eform site from the "standard" eform 1's, those will be "hurried" along because they are expecting an influx of them........JMO

So you think they are going to create an "Assault Weapon Registry" of firearms that are ALREADY IN the NFA Registry?:scrutiny:
Machine guns gave been in the NFA Registry since 1934. And literally nothing has happened in those nine decades.
It would just be easier to ban all guns including water pistols, Nerf guns, caulk guns, cookies shaped like guns and my Glock pistol keychain.

No . I think a future administration or congress could push to include all semi-auto's as NFA items . In effect , a registry.

Just because nothing has happened doesn't mean it wont .

I wouldn't bet that the same people that keep trying to push legislation that repeatedly gets knocked down in the courts are going to stop anytime soon .

The soon to be in the registry , are going to outnumber the entire registry , soon .

I submitted mine today but just submitted as a normal form 1 for an SBR, refuse to send a picture lol.

Well, they could just as easily outlaw all firearms.

True.

True

Unlikely.

So millions of people are going to file, including attaching the required photo with the form. Then the system is backlogged and background checks are delayed. A delay longer than 88 days is an automatic denial and they have photographic evidence you are in possession of an (now) illegal SBR. ATF says they will pursue enforcement.
Government, ANY government, never gives something for "free". My own cynical opinion is that proper courses of action are to either reconfigure as a title 1 firearm or to pony up the cash for a stamp. "Free" is going to get expensive for a lot of people, I'm afraid.

Just an update from elsewhere that might be pertinent: https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/comments/10t0uoq/got_approved_for_3_pistol_brace_eform_1s/

The user submitted their three pistol brace registrations on 01/13/23, with control numbers 20232206XX to 20232207XX. Interestingly, they were all "Approved with Conditions" (namely approved under the provisions of that specific ATF ruling) and also noteworthy, none of them had tax stamps.

If it gets overturned before you would become a criminal and risk loosing all of your firearm rights, I guess that would be fine.

Keep it after it becomes illegal and taking unnecessary risks doesn’t sound like a good plan at all. I owned SBR’s before the braces existed, so I don’t own any myself but if I didn’t want to register them and they became illegal, I would destroy them (so I am not breaking the law) then buy another one if they became legal again. I don’t know what they cost but I can confidently say none could be valuable enough to put myself into legal jeopardy.
