I went to the gun show in Concord N.H. this weekend.:)
Got up around 6 a.m. and left about 45 min. later for the 1.5 hr. drive south, pulling into the Everett Arena around 8 a.m.

The parking lot was already filling up (opened doors at 9 a.m.) and there was a good crowd forming at the door. The line quickly wrapped it's way around the building and started out back.

Ammo prices: Still too high, but plenty of selection. It looked as though a lot of dealers were just trying to unload lots of the "old stuff" to make room for the new, but the prices were rough. Everything in the 20 rd. boxes ranged from $11.00 to well over $20.00 depending on what you were looking for. Even hand-loading materials and brass seemed terribly inflated. No primers to be found anywhere

There were a TON of "black rifle" sales to be had....looks like the AR shortage was over. Lots of AK's and SKS's too...

Handgun prices were still WAY over-inflated, but there were at least a few great deals out there, which indicated to me that the dealers were willing to take a hit in the wallet a bit to stimulate interest/business. Overall it's what you'd expect though.....esp. for the higher end 1911's, Kimbers, Sigs, etc.

A few hours later I made my way back up to Whitefield N.H. to the Village Gun Store. The owner told me that he was having NO PROBLEM calling in the forms on the state line and the woman said "Yeah....there's a ton of people at Concord today.....everyone is there and walking around BUT NO-ONE WAS BUYING anything!!" They had very few calls coming in for checks...*hmmmm* It seems like people are still being very cautious with the $$$ but at least looking. ENJOY!!!!

This mirrors my experiences at the DFW area gun shows of late. My only additional observation is how surprised I was that vendors were not being more aggressive on pricing of sporting-style arms; many were priced well above expected/accepted values and the vendors showed little interest in acknowledging that the bubble was behind 'em...

Just went to the gunshow out here too this weekend, same thing over-inflated prices! When I tried to haggle a bit, they kept telling me, about how there's gonna be a ban, yada yada yada. My response was that the bubble has busted and prices have dropped so how bout a deal? Of course they feigned ignorance. But where there used to be empty pallets of 5.56 and other ammunition, there were CASES left because I think the dealers are trying to ride out the inflated prices for another month at least. I saw a basic USED WASR 10 (no mags or anything else with it) for $650 told the guy I'd give him $400 if he included the tax, he told me "Do you know how hard it is to get an AK right now?!" I told him "Yeah I can pay $400 to order it and wait a week or 2, I just would like one right now" He just gave me dirty look and refused to talk to me.

I can think of at least 3 stores here in the Minneapolis area where I could walk out with an AK tomorrow, and at far better prices than $650.

I know! It's ridiculous! Everybody is out to make a buck in Vegas, so i guess I should wait until the dealers out here stop gouging people and face reality. Ugh....

Shows here in Wyoming are just overflowing with black rifles. Nobody buying. Some SOB's trying to get 35-45 dollars a brick for primers, nobody buying. Walmart ammo at triple the price, nobody buying. Still, if you look hard, you can find some deals.

I was there on sunday before it opened at 9, i was near the door. lots of ars and aks, was able to see a rifle i'm interested in, a polish tantal. all i got was a knife for 15 dollars. it was sold for 40 on saturday but they wanted to unload their stuff and got a deal. the best way to go to a gunshow is on the last day, its less packed and better deals.

Just more and more proof that the gun dealers stirred the crap pot and caused this whole "shortage." I put "shortage" in quotes like that because there is no shortage of profits for them!

Props to everyone who told dealers like that to shove it, like PandaBearBG. If we keep this up, they'll have no choice but to wise up.

I disagree wholeheartedly with that conclusion. I am quite close to several local vendors and dealers, and in every case they were reacting to the customer base and supply chain.

Nothing more.

Certainly, those that bought into a supply of EBRs at inflated wholesale pricing (profit taking at the manufacturer/wholesaler level) now need to get some of that money back out. My only quarrel has been with the dealers who have extended the 'bubble' inflation to the arms that are NOT largely in demand.

But, as you say - when they figure out that they aren't moving inventory, they'll drop the prices.

I was amused at the last Austin SAXET gun show I went to in July. There was only ONE guy who had 2 boxes left of small pistol primers. Guess what the price was? $95.00 (per 1k) !! I just had to smile as I walked away. Truth is, I've seen them coming in with more frequency through many of the tried-and-true online sources, harking back to the 'good old days' of $30 a pop...
