Hypothetical "Hollywood" type situation purely for fun!

If it was Hollywood style and any firearm can magically become fully automatic, I think that Five-SeveNs with 30 round mags would be my choice.

mac-11's get my vote. In 9mm, of course, for controllability

I think 2,000 rounds a minute would be a sight to behold, especially at night. A couple hundred round beta mags would be a nice touch as well.

It did present itself not to long ago when I bought my 1911. My buddy brought his to compare. I tried it slow and it was uncontrolable.

I've wielded dual Makarov's for fun. I couldn't hit squat but I did feel like having a drink of Vodka afterwards.

Ruger MP9 would be my vote

All joking aside ...
I tried it the first day shooting my second Ruger mkIII ... I couldn't resist when there were two almost identical pistols on the table. It was pure point shooting with the left hand's gun, and I found that if the left hand was a bit further back than the right (just enough to have the left ejection port clear of the right gun) it was possible to keep shots on the 4'x5' cardboard with the left hand, of course, accuracy dropped off significantly with the right (worse than shooting with just the off-hand, in fact) but it was possible to keep the right-hand gun on target enough to hit a large silhouette most of the time.

I've dual-wielded Makarovs once a long time ago. Couldn't hit much, but it was fun, and they guy down at the other end of the line in the indoor range where we were shooting gave me a dirty look (he was teaching his wife to shoot; I guess he didn't want her getting bad ideas) Basically, we were done, but we had enough 9x18 left to load two magazines...

Years later, I tried dual Ruger Vaqueros in cowboy action shooting. Shooting relatively slowly, I hit all my targets; despite my low speed, it impressed just about everyone on my posse.

Dual wielding about anything is my Hollywood setup

A pair of Colt 1851 Navy revolvers. Then again my movie takes place in 1852.

i'd have to say that two micro-uzi's would be very fun to use... very safe for the target too, since i probably wouldn't hit a thing...

Whatever guns you choose should have a very high capacity for two reasons:

1-we're reinventing "spray and pray"

2-you can't reload since the hand you would grab a second magazine with has a gun in it

[/IMG][/IMG]............................. It took me awhile, but learning to shoot with both hands, at the same time, is a bit of a challenge. As a cop, learning to use the weak hand was a necessity, and I faired pretty well. When I got the bug to learn to use two guns at the same time, I found that the brain doesn't want to use both sides at the same time, for the same chore. My dominant left eye side made me always pull my right hand shots to the left, and this causes a crossed path, often before it hit the target, and varied with the distance to the target. I also found a practical way to carry lots of .45 1911 mags: buy a Galco DMC for the Glock 21, and stretch it a bit to hold two 1911 mgs in each side. I have two DMC's, and an older Bianchi double pouch, so that that's 10 mags, plus the two in the guns. I have no idea where Hollywood puts all the mags (a la Bruce Willis in "Last Man Standing"). It is NOT comfortable to put lots of loaded 1911 mags in your pockets..

Oh, geez, I didn't think of that!
Of course it is reckless, and of course it is silly, which is why when the compulsion struck, I actually thought about it, and tried it under controlled conditions, rather than pulling a YouTube video-worthy stunt.
Actual thought about the equipment available and the experiment to be attempted gave me a few guidelines to follow:
Left-hand gun should be a few inches behind the right
Left-hand gun should have the longer barrel
Neither gun should have any signifigant recoil
Both guns should be comfortable in the hand and point-shootable

Using a pair of Ruger autoloaders, one with a 5.5" barrel, and one with a 6.875" barrel, the above guidelines were quite easy to follow, and you can read my above post (typed with all 10 fingers!) to get the results of my experiment ... but I'll give an executive summary here:
Dual-wielding pistols is damn near impossible under controlled conditions with the ideal guns, for practical application, it is not practical, not safe, and not a good idea.
But it was fun to try.

earlthegoat2, considering we're talking about Hollywood guns here, of course a pair of NAA minis in .22short would do the job and never need a reload. Plus, with single-action revolvers, you can shoot L-R-L-R in a semi-controlled fashion
