What is a good scope to be matched to a Tikka 3 Lite?

Ok here is a comparison of these two different scopes from Nikon the bushmaster and the Team Primos.

The only real difference that I can see is that the Team Primos costs $159. The Bushmaster costs 219 but has the BDC. Is that the only difference?
 
Depends on budget. I have a Nikon Buckmasters on my .223 T3. Works pretty well. If you aren't going to be shooting at 200+ yards there isn't any reason to get over a 9x power scope. The BDC on the buckmaster is pretty cool. I can hit steel chickens at 300 yards pretty easy with it.

I'm not sure, but the glass on the buckmaster should be a little better... if you've got a cabelas or bass pro in your area I'd go check them out firsthand. Even if you aren't going to buy there, you can get a good idea of the quality difference.
 
The major place here is Sportsmen's Warehouse. I don't know what that other model is about that was also recommended the primo one.

Got a Bass Pro shop maybe one hour away. Never have been there but heard it's good everything under one roof like Sportsmen warehouse.
Another place I heard of is Wild Sports.
How does that BDC work? Is it easy to use and understand?
 
I use a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 on my Tikka T3 Varmint in .308

I love it! I was having fun killing clay pigeons at 200 yards with it yesterday.

Another suggestion would be a 3-9x40 Zeiss Conquest.
 
Not sure what price range you are looking at?

I put a Sightron S2 3-12X 42 mm AO on one of my Tikka T3. Had to go to some Warne high mounts. But it is an impressive and versatile scope with good glass and guts for the money. You can order them thru Midway for about $348.

I spend a fair amount of time on a 300 yard range and have found I do much better at making smaller groups on paper @300 with a x-12X powdered scope compared to the usual 3 -9 X hunting scopes. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=339795

$220 would be the most I would spend.
I went to Midway site and I can see there are different versions of the Bushmaster and of the Primo Team. It looks to me that the Bushmaster in the Nikon brand is the better scope than the Primo Team series?:confused:
The Bushmaster scope I looked at was $217.
 
Mine sports a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 BDC. I have grown to like it enough that I have 4 Nikons all together so far. I feel that they are hard to beat for the money. Buy when on sale.............

I guess what I will have to do is see if I can find those and compare them side by side with the Bushmaster Nikons.
 
If money is a concern, your best bet is a 3-9x40mm. That is where the best deals are generally to be found.

If it were me, I'd pick up a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40mm and call it a day. You'd have to spend a lot more money to get something that is noticeably better.

A bit more money, but a really nice scope for a deer blaster is the Leupold Vx3 2.5-8x36mm. It is a great scope, not too small, not too big, nice eye relief.
 
Is it really necessary to have a variable power scope? I usually find that at 3X or 4X is easiest to see?
 
You could get a Leupold VX1 for arond $220. Good scope for the money. I have the Rifleman 3x9x40 and paid $200 for it. It's on a Weatherby Vangaurd .30-06. No complaints so far.

I compared that to the Nikon Bushmaster in the same power and still like the Nikon Bushmaster better and the cost on it is $217.
 
I would go with the Buckmaster 3x9, or Bushnell 3200 3x9 which should be around your price limit. I really miss the Sportsman's Warehouse that ued to be close to me.

What about this other Nikon scope Team Primos? vs. Bushmaster? It looks like there identical other than the BDC feature on the Bushmaster which makes it $217 vs. the $159? on Team Primos?

I'm tellin ya it's a candystore in there as I was in there for hours looking around. Everything under one roof.
 
I have a Leupold Rifleman that came with my Tikka, but I had a Burris FFII already waiting to get mounted. So I am selling the Rifleman, if you're interested PM me.
It's a good scope, compared to the Burris, but I do prefer the Burris over it, hence the reason I'm selling the Rifleman.
