Pretty self explanatory...
I like Oregon Trail's 158 grain RNFP but they're like $60 for 500 bullets now. Anyone got a line on a cheaper substitute since I'm just putting my bullets into the backstop anyhow?
Thanks.

How does shipped to your door for $51 a thousand sound?

Stonewall Bullet

I've bought a bunch of 260gr SWC from him for my Redhawk and have had great results. Reviews on his 200gr SWC have been mixed in forum threads, but they shoot better than I do.

+100 on Missouri bullet. Getting ready to throw some in the range bag here shortly. Great stuff from a great company.

BTW, there's a thread or two here somewhere about their uncannily fast shipping.

He can't use Missouri Bullet

The OP stated "Need a source for cheap half-decent cast lead".

That ain't Mo. Bullet.

They are very decent. I would say bordering on excellent, but I'm biased.

Have to go elsewhere for half-decent bullets. Sorry to dissapoint. :neener:

Mastercastbullets.com also

Another caster who does price competitive casting (but they're NOT "half decent, either) is Mike at mastercastbullets.

NOTHING ill to say about Missouri or Dardas - period - but if you're looking for a bullet those guys don't cast, Mike probably does.

I've had good luck with both Dardas and Missouri Bullet Company. Missouri ships way, way, crazy fast, and I like their lube better. They're pretty close to even on price, and either are every bit as good as Oregon Trail at barely more than half the price.

+1 on Missouri Bullet, plus they are in my home town and Brad is a really good guy! I have many from them and they Rock!

This is from a 2008 post of mine, his prices may have changed a little due to the Obama scare and lead prices.

OK, I didn't want to mention my supplier without his permission first, didn't want him to get swamped unexpectedly. He gave me the go-ahead, so here it is.....

These are all just cast lead, sized and lubed, no jackets.

9mm 124gr. LRN, 500 for $20
.38/.357 158gr. SWC. 500 for $22
.40/10mm 180gr. RNFP, 500 for $23
.44mag/.44spl. 240gr. SWC, 500 for $28
.45acp 200gr. RNFP, 500 for $27
.45acp 230gr. LRN, 500 for $30

It's a small menu, but the best prices I've found, and great quality bullets IMO. He told me he has either three or four of the Magma bullet casting machines, so he can crank 'em out at a pretty good rate.

I don't want to be responsible for handing out his address and phone number, so email him if you're interested. He said he's got a pretty good stockpile built up, so get after it y'all!

Oh, FWIW.....yes, I've bought thousands of bullets from him, in nearly every flavor on the menu. And I'll buy more, if I ever get low enough to need them.

Missouri Bullets..

Don't look to Missouri Bullets for Half-A$$ bullets, at a cheap price. Look to them for a Quality bullet at a Fair price.!!!!:neener::what:

i looked at current missouri bullet prices 10/26/09 .. just my opinion . decent prices if dont want to cast. I enjoy casting. and looks like I can do myself for half to on third the price.

Oh darn!! The word's out!!!

ps - wanna buy some lead? $1.67/lb. for virgin foundry 2/6, certified analysis, $10.85 flat-rate shipping for 66 lbs. of it per USPS carton

Have to be different. Have gotten many excellent moderately hard lead bullets from Friendswood Bullet Co. on the net.

Casting will be an option eventually... just not today.
I have about a hundred pounds of wheelweights waiting for me to do something with them. But for now, I just want to be able to load and shoot.

I support a local MI company, great bullets, pre-lubed, the owner of the company makes them to order and you don't get any junk. Very hard to find the seams and they fly great. Matt has even called me back to answer questions when he was on vacation, how can you beat customer service from a guy willing to give up vacation time to give support (answering dumb questions). Amazing customer service and fast shipping.

I'm sure Missouri Bullets are good too but I like to support small local teams.
