The 336 Club

My 336 is 30-30. I have been reading about rifles with companion pistols. Thiinking about it now, I should have tried to find one in a caliber that i have a pistol in. I have looked previously for rifles the use 9mm, but they are fairly expensive for my budget.
I would love to get my hands a 336 in .357/.38 caliber or so, but they have all been nearly double the price of what I paid for my 30-30. The reasons for this are obvious to any one that has this set up. What other pistol calibers do the 336 come in? I would prefer to stay with a smaller caliber, .357 is about as big as I want to go. But I don't however want to go to a .22. I already have a marlin 60 and a savage bolt action .22 which share ammo with my browing buck mark.

I have a 9mm Hi Point carbine that shares ammo with my Taurus. Paid only $150 for it in like-new condition. It has it's 'nitch' for 100 yards & under. It's fun, dependable, warrantied for life, and cheap to shoot.

It plays 2nd fiddle to the 30-30 though when there's serious work to be done, totally different ball park.

Kind of weird question here. I have shot my new 336C .35 rem at 100 yards, but I just cant see the target well enough. So I went to sight in today at 50 yards, but the range was full. (I need to join a private range) If anyone could tell me what notch the rear sight is on if they have their 35 rem sighted in for 50 yards with the 200 grain ammo (aside from leverevolution) that would be great. Don't worry, I will take test shots before I do anything with it, I just won't have a place to shoot it until tomorrow before I go to hunt.

Dick's Sporting Goods is advertising a 336A .30-30 with a 3-9 40mm scope for $299. Two day sale 11/27 (Fri) and 11/28 (Sat.) That's the lowest I've seen with or without a scope. I paid $329 at Dick's a month ago and thought I weas getting a good deal.

Once I have it roughed in at 25 yards I will also shoot it at 50, 75, 100 (planning to zero after 25 yard rough in), 200 yards so I have an idea of where it hits.

I had an opportunity to go out this weekend to a range. I only shot at 50 yards as it was raining. With the XS Sights and the Hornady ammo, I was shooting 9" high at 50 yards with the rear ghostring all the way down. I will call XS at get a taller front sight and that should solve the problem. The one thing that surprised me a bit, I had a 20" bolt action rifle with me in .308. The bolt action had noticably less recoil than the 30-30. I did not expect that. I expected more recoil out of the bolt action.

Awhile back I posted a old pic of my Marlins before they had the scopes on them but I thought I would post a recent pic of them all decked out and ready to go!!!


the 30-30 and the 444s have more scope than what they need but I already had them so I didn't have to spend the extra money!!!(First is the 308mx...scope is a Zeiss Conquest 3x9-50mm,Second is a 336c 30-30...scope is a Bushnell Scopechief 4x12-40mm,and the third one is a 444s...scope is a Simmons 8 point 3x9-50mm)

Last night I picked up a new 336SS. I’ve wanted one forever, and the price was too right to pass up.

I would like to mount a Leupold scout scope on top of the ‘XS Lever Scout Mount.’ Now, I’m apparently having a vanity attack, because I see the Leupold scope is finished in Matte Black, Gun Metal Gray, and Silver. Does anyone know which of the latter two finishes would most closely match the stainless steel of the Marlin?

I have a 336ss too and found that none of the scopes I looked at even closely matched the color of the stainless, so, I opted for the matte black Leupold 3-9 x 40mm and I like the contrast in color.

I noticed you can get big loops on the lever. Outside of wearing gloves and looking cool, is there and advantage? Many thanks.

Big fingers fit better, even better with gloves.

Picked up A 1950 336A today For $250. Thought it was going to be A beater gun. When I got it cleaned up I found it to be in real nice shape. A stock refinish and she will be good to go.

put me on the list, i joined on dec. 26, the family all knew i wanted to buy a deer rifle, been useing an old worn out sks, so they all tossed me some money and i went and got myself a 336w in 30-30, and i love it.

Add me to the list too. I had a marlin 336 that I bought used back in 1988. I ended up selling the rifle a few years later, and always regretted it. I replaced it a few years back with a 336w. I just love that little rifle!

Sign me up to. I got a 35 I love it was my dads. Took a 10 pt and a 411 lb bear this year. Aint to pretty but sure is deadly.

I took my son to the range again this morning. I posted his target in another thread. I took my spotting scope with me today. I finally got on the paper with my 336 today. It's 30-30. We were using the 50 yrd range. I got with in the bulls eye circle with they stock blade and ramp sights. It has a very thin front fiber optic sight, and a set screw adjustable rear ramp. I'll post a picture of it soon. Any one see a set up like this? I got it used at a pawn shop a few months ago.

I'm a big fan of the 336, for I have a 444, 35 rem, and a(336A) 30/30. My next rifle will be a Cowboy.

A warning about the Cowboys; Once you go octagonal you may find it impossible to resist walking away with others and they make em' in a lot of calibers.

My 1950 336A project. Nearly done

Well I joined the club, found a 1955 Marlin 336 in .35 Rem in a pawn shop that just called to me. I cleaned it up and it is in great shape. Got it for $185 out the door.

My Marlin 336C .35 Rem

...is a '70 Model with the Medallion...looks like this...it is really in good shape, and has the 60-C 2.5x Weaver scope. Closet dings and stuff but the barrel is really in great shape. Got it for $249.
