Did you leave the store with the machine? lol
Thank you for great info's iam new to the Guns.
I did not know CCW shows on my Drivers License. Because i remember reading somewhere, when you get pulled over, i should give officer my CCW card and DL at the same time. i would anyways.
Tomorrow iam going to make a copy and laminated.
i dont want to fold my new fresh one. LOL
I looked at my watch and suggested that he go find a screwdriver.
Informing an officer that you're a CCW holder is not manditory in Washington State. Though it can be seen as a courtesy, what... do you have all night to waste on courtesies? He already knows you have a CPL when he runs your DL. Just keep your hands on the steering wheel, let him write you up, or give you a warning, or whatever, and then be on your merry way... unless he asks you to exit the vehicle. Then I would say it's prudent to politely inform him.
"Before I exit the vehicle, I would like you to know that I have a Washington State CPL and that I am carrying at this time. How would you like me to proceed?"
I think it is good advice not to use the word "gun" in this situation. If the officer is a rookie, or is backed up by a rookie, this can make things stickier than necessary. If the LEO asks for clarification, spell it all out.
"I'm sorry, officer, I thought you would be familiar with those terms. I am licensed by the State of Washington to carry a concealed firearm. I am informing you, for your safety and mine, that I am legally carrying a firearm at this time. How would you like me to proceed?"
I only inform an officer that I am CCW if he asks me to get out... and, of the few times that has happened, I've had about a 50% "have a good day, sir" response. The other 50% was the whole "okay, just keep your hands visible and slowly exit the vehicle" followed by "now place your hands on the car, so I can remove the firearm."
I actually had to give this old revolver-toting Alabama cop pointers on how to clear a 1911.
