Hi Folks,

I have always enjoyed talking about gun stuff with like-minded people such as yourselves. So, I figured I would start a gun blog just for the fun of it. Anyway, I was hoping to get some feedback from you about what you think of the content thus far, and maybe some ideas about what you might like to see on there in the future. I know there are already thousands of gun blogs out there, so I would like to make the content as original as possible to create a sense of value for readers. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, K

As a fellow gun blogger (lets face it, I have one good posting) I would say to write about what intrests you and not worry about anyone else. You are not trying to sell advertising here (I dont think at least) If the 1911 intrests you greatly go ahead and write about it. I know it has been done before. Writing about what you want is what will make the blog easy to come back to day after day.

One thing that everybody likes is pictures. It doesnt take much study and practice to be able to take good pictures with a simple pocket sized camera. I dont take good pictures but I understand their value.

Please don't write about 1911's. Every time I get a gun magazine it has a 1911 article and many times has one pictured on the front. That's getting sooo old. There are GOBS of 1911 information out there. If you want traffic you'll have to figure out a niche to get people interested.

"A Canadian is sort of like an American, but without the gun"

Did you know there are way more fun guns in larger quantities available in Canada than the US that can't be imported here?

Thanks for the nice feedback folks... you guys are great. If any of you have your own gun blog (like earlthegoat2) please either post a link to it or PM me so I can add it to my Blogroll links.

The more the merrier.

Good work. Easy to navigate, interesting too. I'll be visiting from time to time now that I have found it. Thanks. Ammo tests, especially pistol / expansion of SD rounds are always interesting to me.

I just discovered Talon Grips for my Glocks and now have them on all the Glocks I own ... I just wish now that someone would have put me onto them before I eventually stumbled across a "plug" on Hitchkok45's You Tube Video series on Glock shooting. (He likes them too). Anyway, that brings us the possibility of reviews of "grip improvements" if you could find sources willing to supply you review materials.

Anyway, most of all follow the advice that you should write about what you find most interesting and compelling as that will show in what you write and make it genuine and interesting for readers.

Congratulations on a nice blog, KB. Looks like you've put a lot of work into it in only a week. Hopefully it won't start to feel like a burden :) I think you're a good writer and I appreciate your posts on this forum, so I'm interested in following your new blog.

Thanks JKimball. Glad to hear from a fellow Utahan. I thank you for the kind words as well as your contributions to the blog comment board. Again, I appreciate everyones feedback here.

If you write up things that you are intrested in then the blog will continue to be written by you. Readers will come given enough content and the magic of Google. The big thing is to have plenty of articles and to update it regularly.

The great thing about a gun blog that is unhindered by advertising dollars is that you can write about what you want and how you want and have no reprecussions. Of course it is all opinion.

That is a very nice looking website. Good looking format. Good job. As it grows I'd like to see seperate sections for pistols, rifles, battle rifles, SHTF, blackpowder, industry news, politics, etc.

Excellent advise. As the content continues to grow, I will certainly develop more specific sections to help pinpoint individual interests.

Very true... I am betting that some gun blogs out there will eventually be the envy of some "hindered" professional gun writers. Particularly those who are forced to candy-coat their honest opinion on a subject in order to satisfy their sponsors.

I stopped over and checked it out, reads quite nicely. keep up the good work!
Thanks Raven... and welcome to THR!

Hey, I checked it out again.

I like the format, and I like your writing style.

Good job, keep it up.

Hey, have you thought about linking your blog to your sig line?

Thanks Tim... glad you enjoyed it. Good call on the signature line... linking it now.

I'm also adding links on Brasstard.com to other gun blogs so if any of you have a similar blogs going, please feel free to add them. Adding Earlthegoat2 now.
