Does anyone have any experience with these rounds? They look fairly interesting but I'm just curious as to how well they actually work... any opinions are appreciated

Hype, marketing, more hype, and more bad marketing with ninjas and scantly clad busty chicks holding big guns like they were dancing poles. Their ammo is generally overpriced, under-performing junk.

In my humble opinion of course.

Looks impressive for $2 to $3 a round. I kinda like hot chicks myself.

Overall oppinion on THR is that extreme shock is a silly marketing ploy, and their rounds are generally on the low end of the effectiveness scale, relying more on clever (or moronic..) marketing to sell rounds, rather than actually being good ammo.

Basically, you can do better by going with either FMJ or any name brand HP round.

Also, eXtreme Shock! threads tend to not last long before they get locked.

So my Federal hydra-shok .357 hp's were a waste of $ ? I'll learn eventually I hope. The Mag Tech Gold +P Hp's woulda been fine. In fact, almost without exception the pics of expended rounds of different model/price rounds I've seen posted on this site show very little (if any) real difference in expansion or shape. Only the price and name are different.

Expensive little frangible turds is what they are. Get yourself some name brand bonded hollow points instead. Save the useless exotic stuff for tacti-cool ninjas.

I read that it does not work on the Internet, so that must be true, it's no good.

TBS, as good as other premium ammo is now days, just pick up some Gold Dot for much cheaper.

That doesn't mean I think ES isn't bad, but all the Internet expert's say so, so it's bad.

In regard to guns, ammo, and firearm accessories, one rule of thumb I've developed over time is this: The more impressive the name, the less impressive the performance.

Garbage.

CASE STUDY - Extreme Shock ammo

Doctor Gary Roberts has provided some excellent data. For example: Topic: Extreme Shock Handgun Ammo

The article summarizes:

Bare Gelatin 3.9 - 5.5" Small Fragments N/A N/A

4-layer Denim 14.6" 0.42" 0.48" 56.6gr

SUMMARY

It is my firm belief that the manufacturers of this type of ammunition preys upon the un-knowing public and is selling them a product which may not perform as well as much more "conventional" ammunition. This could have grave consequences for the unsuspecting buyer.

While a lot of this article dealt with LeMas in particular, the same applies to other manufacturers of this ammo in that they rely on an uneducated consumer to make a profit. That case study showed many of the arguments pushed by makers of this type of ammo, and also showed why their claims are not valid.

A common theme in all these wonder-bullets is their light weight, high velocity design. Taking this into consideration, I will make a blanket statement that they could work in certain scenarios. For this information, please refer to the Fackler article "A Reconsideration of the Wounding Mechanism of Very High Velocity Projectiles - Importance of Projectile Shape".

It can certainly be argued that very high velocity does have a quality all of its own, but the bullets in question don't quite have the velocity required to cause the massive tissue destruction shown in the article, nor do they have the correct shape to be shot out of a gun and be aerodynamic enough. Please read the article and see what you think. If you were to shoot someone and have an unobstructed shot at a torso, even the large, superficial wound these rounds would produce would probably be sufficient.

There's no doubt that they'd cause some nasty wounds when extremities are hit. But please don't confuse this with reliable performance when less than ideal factors are taken into account. Ideal scenarios are not likely to be present during a real-life shootout, and you may find yourself with much less than you bargained for by choosing this type of ammunition.

looking up the word "nytrillium" in an online dictionary resulted in:
"No results for nytrillium" Therefore I assume that it is a made up
word for marketing purposes.

Looks impressive for $2 to $3 a round. I kinda like hot chicks myself.

Bolded the important points!

REAPER4206969, that's the first time I've ever seen them actually do what they claim in a test, despite the fact that doing what they say involves pathetically underwhelming penetration.

Wikipedia: Nytrillium alloy made from equal parts of krytonite, unobatinium, silver, and depleted uranium. When formed into bullets and fired over 250 fps guaranteed to stop coyotes, grizzly, werewolves, supperman, and trains.

I never liked the Fang Face by itself, but I have had really good results when you drill a hole down the middle and fill it with solid mercury.

They're not so deceptive. They tell you exactly what the bullet will do...disintegrate. It's all frangible ammo, therefore ill suited for self defense.

Gimmick. You're better off buying proven JHP ammo for your defensive needs.

It's the ultimate mall-ninja ammo for people whose body of gun knowledge comes from Counter Strike.

"Dave, how exactly are you keeping mercury solid??"

keep your loaded clip in the freezer............
