Browning Buckmark "Tactical"

I picked up a new Buckmark from Gander Mountain that's marketed as the "Tactical" model. In talking with a manager at the store I learned that it's a Gander Mountain exclusive direct from Browning. I haven't seen one pictured anywhere online so I thought I would post a few pictures of mine.

Personally, I think it's a pretty good looking Buckmark. I might be a bit biased though! :D

I was considering getting a Burris FastFire II for it but have never shot with a red dot before so I figured I'd try out the Barska first and see if I liked it before shelling out the extra cash. I've already done a little bit of work polishing various parts and did the "Heggis Flip" on it. I've got a bunch of spare parts on order including an adjustable trigger which will be getting installed as soon as it shows up.

I shot with the iron sights when I took it out today and ran 6 or 7 different types of ammo through it... Probably about 400 rounds total. Only had problems with some older Federal rounds I had and that was towards the end of the day. But it shot really well. I'm sure the fliers were more my fault than the guns as I'm just starting with pistol shooting. Next time I'll give the red dot a try and see if I like that or not.
 
Nice gun!

I think it is pretty neat... i would give it some thought... but I have a hunch that if I ever do decide to buy a target .22 pistol it will be a smith 41... dont know why..:rolleyes:
 
I like the look of that barrel but I'm not sure about that grip. I'm also not into red dot for pistol yet as I can still see 8 ^ ). Can I ask what the retail price was ? I'm looking for something to appease my longing for my last SW 41.

kurt1305 - Thanks for the info, I'll definitely look into that.

racine - I picked it up for $499 which was about $20 more than what some of the local gun shops were selling the regular Contour 5.5 URX for. I got it at the Gander Mountain in Madison, WI. They don't have it, or any Buckmarks, listed on the Gander Mountain website so you'd have to check local stores to see if they have it or not. If not I know they can search other store inventories for items.

I'm not sure about the Red Dot myself which is why I picked up a cheaper model. As I said, I've never used one before and have no issues with eyesight. Just wanted to give it a try as some people seem to really like them. I've got the Silhouette sight hoods ordered and might just throw them on there with the irons. We'll see...
 
is the design of those magazines so it holds thespring compressed while you just drop the rounds in? (sorry i dont own a pistol so sorry if thats a dumb question)
 
Nice looking pistol! My wife bought me one about a month ago, but I haven't done any modifications to it. It's the model with the fiberoptic front sight and plain grip.

How did the Heggis Flip work as compared to factory? I'm questioning that procedure because the factory installation of the coil spring uses the spring's tension by tightening the coils and flipping it creates tension by uncoiling it. I can see where that lightens it, but I'm skeptical about doing it.

The pin on the side of the mag is to allow you to compress the spring's tension with the thumb of your other hand as you load the mag. They do that because .22 is rimfire and some blissninny worried putting too much pressure on the rims would cause them to fire...never heard of it happening though. The hole at the bottom is usually the disassemby hole.

The side button is apparently intended to cause undue aggravation to your thumb.

For some reason, .22 rifle magazines often lack this wonderful side button but it's a common feature on .22 pistol magazines...

I believe they do allow you to pull the follower down manually in case of rim lock...and on my Ruger 22/45 MkIII, they do activate the bolt hold open...
 
When did they start adding a magazine disconnect to Buckmarks?

Sad that Browning feels they need to copy some of Ruger's mistakes. All they need now is a LCI that can be used to fire the round in the chamber. They could call it the BuckMkIII.

That's why I love my Colt Woodsman. Fantastic (steel) trigger and no unnecessary safety devices.
 
Saw one of these at my local gander and liked it. Is it a steel barrel? and is the trigger adjustable? Just wondering as i just bought a older (1996) buckmark bullseye and the trigger is user adjustable.
