Well, I've wanted a full-size 1911 ever since I could pull a trigger. :D And last night I did just that.

Picked up a Glade's Gun Works 1911 in .45 acp. The pistol has a hard chrome finish, beveled magazine well, a painted front sight, Wichita adjustable rear sight, extended safety and magazine release, and a match hammer and sear. This pistol is built off of a Caspian slide, frame and barrel. This is DEFINITELY my last pistol purchase for a while...

And a special thanks goes out to JZ06, thanks for being my conscience last night... and by conscience I mean that little red devil on my shoulder!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I went in to buy a $12 Uncle Mike's holster for my SP101... Ended up walking out spending closer to $1200!

Oh and I got a set of Hogue rubber monogrips for the range, yeah I know they're ugly as sin but they are a really really comfy to shoot with.

Since Glades has been closed for many years now, if you feel like it needs some work contact Wayne Bergquist at (239)594-1573

He built it.

Where have I heard that before?
:)
Hahaha yeah, but I bought 3 pistols in the past month... Buying 3 prior to that over 3 YEARS, really I'm done for a while. Now what I consider a while will probably vary from what others do, I'm talking 6 months or so. ;)

WOW! Thanks for the contact info! Much appreciated! :)

Wasssap Mr1911? :) hehehe! I am very happy that you took that home! My Colt SCG is very happy to have a hard chromed cousin! Now we have to blast it at the range. I'm sure it'll be fine. Good luck with it and its a gr8 idea to lay off the gun buying! Now stock up on ammo! :)

"UPDATE YOUR SIG" :) add the GLADES!:D
Straight away Jay! :D

And yeah, I'm definitely content with pistols for the time being. I mean, an FN 5.7 still tempts me in my dreams, but I'll wait till the Camaro sells for that one. ;)

I still plan on getting a 12ga and a bolt-action rifle, though probably not until summer. :)

Nice looking pistol. Don't make rash statements about not buying another soon, you may have to eat those words.:D

Haha thanks guys. I picked up 600 rounds of FMJ last night, as well as a box of 20 SD rounds. CAN'T WAIT to "break her in" with 100 rounds of the FMJ and a mag of the HP's, ASAP! :)

I will have some HST HP's along to make sure it feeds those too. I'm contacting my friend to see about tomorrow night. Would you be interested if He replies w/a yes?

I am dying to see how that Glades performs. It is SUCH a nice pistol! That trigger makes me giddy!:D:evil:

Well guys, exactly one week to the date I bought it, I have a range report!

Since last week I have put in a Wilson 2-pc guide rod. I had some spare time this afternoon and decided to hit the local indoor ($25/hr, ugh!) to try out the new aquisition. Let me start by saying that I am not "used to" a .45 as my usual range blaster is a xD-M 9mm. So after 100 rounds of Winchester white box the verdict is in: this gun can totally out-shoot me. The trigger is silky at all of what feels like 3 lbs. The targets were out at about 7 yards and every mag yielded about the same results. Without touching the sights grouping was at around 2-3". Granted I'm far from an experienced shooter, and still getting used to the gun, I'm very pleased with the results. :)

Here's a target with a 2" group that I kept after just 1 mag through it.

If nobody has done anything to it since Wayne built it, it should feed 200 grain SWC into the same hole.

I've contemplated having him build one for me but the current waiting list i think is about a year and around 2 g's

Sweet, thanks for the tip! :)

Yeah I had been considering having a CT custom shop build me a 1911 from "scratch", but I saw this used at a dealer and at about half the original price I had to grab it. My 10-year-long 1911 craving is finally satisfied! :D
