I already owned the S&W 642 (well actually it's my wife's gun:eek:) So I had to get one of my own, and just bought a Walther PPS .40. I really like the gun, but my first choice was a Colt New Agent .45... WELL..... Why not get them both?!? I had to order the Colt, evidently they are hard to get. (except on gunbroker at inflated prices) Should have it in about 4 to 6 weeks. In the mean time the Walther seems to be a fine gun. It came with about a quart of oil in it, so after a good cleaning, I'm off to the range. A guy standing next to me watching my whole buying and trying process bought one too. I came real close to picking up a used Aluminum Kimber Ultra carry II .45 with Crimson trace grips for $800.00. The Colt was $849.00 and the PPS went for $599.99. I couldn't get all 3 so I left the poor Kimber homeless. I don't think it will be homeless long...it looked NIB to me, but the tag said used. Anyway, now I have to spend money on a holster for the PPS. Any ideas? (I have a pocket holster for my....uh.. I mean my wife's 642) I don't think she will let me borrow it anymore, especially when she finds out I just shelled out close to $1,600.00 on my GFL. That's what we have here in Georgia which passes (poorly) for a CCW.

Nice loadout... That'll be a nice colt! I just got my first 1911 too.. Now once I have one I feel the need to get another.. and another.. where it end? ;-)

Cost, as in expense?

No, the gun is an asset, not an expense. Or an investment, if you will.

The expenses you could consider a cost is the ammo you go through.

But even that could be argued is an investment - an investment in yourself. If your intentions are to carry them for personal protection, make another investment in yourself. Take a good training course. When you're done you'll be glad you did.

Great choices on your carry guns, maybe you were wise to leave the kimber at the shop. I bought a new CDP Pro, beautiful gun that won't work reliably enough to ever trust for ccw.

Very shortly it will be in a gun store case looking nib and be somebody elses problem!
Most dissapointing "custom shop" gun I have ever purchased. NEVER AGAIN!

You can easily sell one or two that you don't like, and then your cost will be down to the price of whichever one you keep.

If you got your driver's license, and then bought a Bugatti Veyron, the DL didn't cost you $1.7M...your Champagne taste did. :)

Since I got my CHL, (to look at it one way) I have probably spent $15,000 on handguns...however, since I bought most of them used, and most were "buy one, sell one", in actuality, I own a half dozen handguns that could easily be sold for their purchase price. I have lost nothing.

Nice Walther. Try the High Noon Split Decision. It's a great holster, well-made, inxpensive, and in stock -- a tough combination to beat.

Very good choices. I've just bought a Walther P99C but agonized over whether to buy the slightly more concealable PPS. Maybe should have followed your example and bought both but it was not long ago I had bought two other guns...

I just put some CT grips on my Colt New Agent, sure makes aiming easier. I'm getting better with the trough sites, slowly but surely. Got mine off one of the many gun auction sites for $775 shipped lightly used with 5 factory mags and a holster. I feel I got a pretty sweet deal on it since most of the ones I was looking at were $850 or more.

You're gonna love the New Agent. You probably won't see a need for the Walther once the New Agent has been carried for a while. Mine's become my default EDC. I carry mine in a Milt Sparks VM2 and it's very comfortable. Good choice getting it over the Kimber, Colt seems to be the one one that's figured out how to make a sub-compact 1911 run reliably.

It's a very nice looking pistol. What information is there on its reliability and durability?
