I think I figured it out. I think it is called a model 14 service since there weren't any 15s (supposedly) that had fixed sights, and it has the recessed barrel nut ala model 14. I guess the model 14 service was developed for a officers service revolver from what I gather. Anyone else know2 any more than this or if this is correct?

Nice Dan Wesson!

It's the Model 14-2. The Model 14-1 had the "porkchop" style barrels and the exposed barrel nuts. It looks like you've got the 6" barrel, which is nice.

You can use the Model 15-2 barrels for it, but you'll have to replace the front sight blade with the Model 14 blades in order to make it accurate. Enjoy!

Edit: If you want more information then you can shake a stick at, then i suggest a trip to the Dan Wesson forums. Nicest bunch of enthusiasts you'll ever meet.

Yes, a 14-2 courtesy of those mentioned over on danwessonfourms.com! Called the 14-2 Service since it has the fixed sights, and is a little rarer because of the six inch and polished blue (for a service) because most were 4in and flat blued.
