Beretta NEOS 22LR for plinking??

I don't think you can go wrong. Mine has never had a gun related issue. It goes bang 99.9% of the time and when it doesn't it's the ammo's fault. I don't think it's ugly.....it's not a beauty queen but it isn't hideous looking either..IMO.

It's definitely not a target gun but killing soda cans isn't a problem at all. My only complaint is that the sights aren't that great. They work as intended but are a little on the "clunky" side. A red dot was just the ticket to fix that problem.

Most people who have shot it really enjoyed it. I say get one and don't look back!

This is without a doubt the ugliest gun my wife ever bought. But man does it shoot nice. Very accurate. Only 2 FTE's otherwise flawless. She thinks it's really cool looking.

I think the trigger is a little heavy but besides that its reliable and VERY easy to clean. Its one of my 4 semi auto 22 pistols and it seems about equal to the others. Like any handgun, its just a personal choice.

Good deal for the money. I have had fun with mine.

I've had mine since last fall. I don't get giddy about too many pistols, especially this dog show but once I worked over the sear and changed out the spring I was wasting ammo just to pull the trigger. (Google Neos trigger job Bic lighter for the $2 solution to the nasty stock trigger) Touching groups at 25 yards and very decent at 50 with a Barska holographic sight (didn't know if I'd like them so I cheaped out).

In terms of problems I've had 1 failure to feed which was the second round after the internal work (slide had leftover crud in it from Dremel). Aside from that I've gotten a bit of splatter here and there on my trigger hand as if it were shaving lead but I'm guessing it was the coating on the ammo I was using. Smarts like a hot match for an instant but no visible debris like lead. One biggie is the extractor. I bet I'm not alone on this one, those who have a Neos know what I'm talking about already. When at the range, the spent brass flies straight to the right about 4 benches down pelting unsuspecting strangers in the head. My final beef is with the roll pins. Every 200 rounds or so they must be tapped back in place to secure the rail.

I mentioned before the holo sight and I agree the black on black sights are a bit wanting for precision work. My solution was to remove the front blade and paint its ramp. Beretta sells replacement blades in white/orange/yellow/black and I THINK green but my solution was cheaper and looks fine. I'm sure if and when I chuck the chinzy Barska I'll mount the sight on the drill press vice and make my own fiber optic front.

I would love a Govt. model Mk II or III but it really is hard for me to justify the money for a rimfire caliber. The Neos satisfied my desire for a plinker while providing solid accuracy.

I almost picked up one of those, but opted for the ruger mk III based on reviews. I dont think its ugly, its kinda cool looking, like something out of Buck Rogers.

If you like the NEOS you'd also love the old Whitney Wolverine that would appear to have been an inspiration in some small way.

If you look up 'neos trigger job' as Skylerbone suggests, its my old page you're going to find So, as far as trigger weight is concerned, I think I'm biased to not see it as an issue.

I wont tout the Neos as an overly accurate gun. It's not horrible by any means, but as has been said before it's not a competition target pistol either. I do think however, it's just as accurate and even maybe a bit moreso than many of the other polymer framed options in it's relative price range and beyond.

I think the Neos points very well, which I have always found surprising considering the odd grip angle. Everybody who has fired mine seems to like the feel of it.

Mine has been fairly reliable with most brands of ammo. The occasional failure here and there, but I expect that with a .22 when feeding it with random varied ammo. Certainly more reliable than some other more expensive .22 pistols I've seen.

Bottom line: Good gun, and definitely worth what they cost.

I've had mine for about 3 years and probably shot between 7 to 9 thousand rounds through it. The only problem I've had with the pistol was the a bit of premature wear. I discovered that it was due to the barrel assembly not locking properly to the grip. The dial needs to lock in with a click. Anything else and you do not have a tight fit. After making sure everything was tight I no longer had the metal wear issue.

My Neos hates Remington Golden. It experiences a FTF at least once or twice per box of 50. It loves CCI. I can go through a brick of the stuff and experience maybe 1 or 2 duds.

I added an el cheapo Simmons red dot and I can pretty much draw smiley faces at 15 yards off-hand & 1" (or less) groups. I'm sure the pistol can do a lot better but my eyes are getting old. I'd picked up a bunch of stainless spare mags for 9.99 at CDNN, but they're $14.99 now. Get 'em cheap while you still can.

There's one accessory that makes this pistol awesome... There's a factory carbine kit for it that turns it into a 16" rifle. I'm still kicking myself for not getting it when they finally became available. Now I can't find it anywhere.

Beretta NEOS 22LR for plinking??
I've been looking for a 22LR semi-auto for a camp plinker, and like the fit and price of the Beretta NEOS (I know it is just plain UGLY). Points well for me and seams to be built will for that price range of gun. I've been told that they will eat any ammo, which is a real plus for a 22LR as most are "Ammo Sensitive" and the choice of available ammo is hit and miss these days.

I own a S&W Mod 41 for target shooting, just looking for a plinker for around the camp site and to teach the grand kids a little about our sport.

I would love the hear from some NEOS owners about their experence with this gun, good or bad. Any problems or tricks, and reliablity with different ammo?

I've had my plain jane 4" barrel Neos for over a year. After about 400 rounds of getting used to it, I did a partial Hexidismal trigger job and bought the Beretta front sight kit. I'm using the red front sight, and my Neos trigger is at 4 lbs. and virtually grit free thanks to Hexidismal's detailed layout. I could have made the pull lighter, but I like 4 lbs for this pistol.

My Neos is more accurate than I can shoot. One of my shooting buddies can put in some nice tight groups with it that I can't quite duplicate (10 shots at 15 yards into 1" with bulk pack ammo).

As far as reliability, out of about 1000 rounds its had 2 feed jams. Once with Federal Lightning and once with Remington Thunderbolt.

Thank you Hexidismal for your homework, its making me look good on the range.

I posted this pic from yesterday elsewhere but here it is again with particulars: Standing at 15 yards, drawn from holster, strong-side two-handed present and fire. Alternate with .40cal.



My secret accessory was a paint marker from Wal Mart to add a bit of contrast to the front sight. Available in that isle the wife shops in with glitter, beads and other junk.

Again, thank you Hex, to those who haven't tried it yet the above is just a glimpse of what's possible accuracy wise I just didn't sand bag it in that day.
