Should new brass be lightly deburred inside and out before using? or is that done already? or, just depending on brand? Thanks! :)

As a rule, I fully prep (even) new/unfired brass: FL size/neck expand, uniform the primer pocket, check/trim length; and chamfer mouth. Done once, it's done.

Since it's become a habbit over the years, I even do it on El Primo (Lapua) :neener:

I have never seen new brass from any manufacturer that didn't need inside and out side chamfering. Inside chamfering is required to seat a bullet easily for the first time, especially if you're using lead bullets and don't want to shave lead. I usually inside chamfer all once fired GI brass I acquire for my 223 and 308 rifles .

I've got one of the RCBS inside/outside hand deburring tools so I will be sure to use it before pressing the bullets in the cases. Thanks for the info. :)

Size it, trim it, chamfer & deburr it, or just load it and shoot it. I choose the former.

Always chamfer new brass, it is quite rough as furnished. I've had a lot of headaches trying to get it through my progressive press as it sticks to the powder drop.

The subject of prepping new brass seems to cycle through every forum related to reloading every few months. This target, like all targets I shoot with new brass, was shot using new, untrimmed, unchamfered, unsized, unscrewed around with brass.

I'm sure it will relieve you all to know that I do resize fired brass and even trim it if needed.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That said all new brass gets the once over. Whatever it needs it gets.
