New CW9 VS Used PM9

Buy both,
The CW9 for trigger/range time
The PM9 for carry

How well does the local shop stand behind the used guns it sells?
I ask becuase there is always the chance that a used gun will have problems.
That said, I would go with the PM9. Pretty good price for one with night sights (does it come with two magazines?).
The CW9 is a nice enough piece, but night sights will run between $50 (front only) and $80 (plus other fees). The CW series comes with only one magazine.
Best to handle both though, the shorter grip on the PM might not be to your liking.

The PM9 is the better value at that price. If you decide you don't like it you could easily get $500 for it. The CW9 will be worth $325 if you decide to sell it.

Understood, buy either with the PM9 being a better deal that will not be there when you go back to buy the other.

After shooting that PM9, I"m thinking you will be replacing that XD with the CW9

Thats a gutsy move, But well rewarded im sure.
Im looking at the CW45 and PM45 but the PM's price makes it a hard decision even tho its easier to conceal.
But chopping the grip would make it the best of both worlds with a longer barrel and a short grip. For CCW thats a great combo.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. it was pretty easy to knock out. I cut it at the 11th front strap "dimple" then sanded it down to the perfect size. Any cutting irregularities were erased by the orbital sander. The grip length is substantially smaller when you factor in the magazine sticking out another 1/2 inch.

Before you come back on here complaining that the gun is not working right be aware of a few Kahr-specific issues.
1) The little spring that holds the magazine release/slide stop lever in place MUST ALWAYS be straight and ON TOP of the slide stop tab. When you reassemble the gun, make sure you slide the tab UNDER the spring. If not, you will bend it in and the gun will malf every shot.
2) Shoot the heck out of it. I shot hot 180gr rounds with the gun for the first 300 rounds. Once it loosened up I was able to slowly hand cycle it and it would chamber a round every time. I can take my CW40 and slowly lower the slide and it chambers perfectly.
3) Verify your carry ammo. Mine likes JHP's with smaller openings and cycles extremely rough with Gold Dots. It eats Hornady 155gr XTPs like butter. That's my carry ammo @1325fps.
4) Kahrs like to be run wet. I grease the rails and oil the trigger group. Mine hasn't failed me since the 116'th round of my initial break-in session. Prior to that, it choked maybe 6 times. I have hand cycled it thousands of times as well.

Great choice. I wish I would have went with the cw9 instead of the pm9 to save money, and to get a full grip. The good news is my wife swiped my pm9 for CC so I don't regret it's purchase.

As mentioned above the kahrs come from the factory wound extra tight. Give it at least 100-200 rounds to loosen up. Working the slide hundreds of times (with work gloves) will help break the gun in faster as well.
