I really only want to buy one of these 9mm's but I'm not sure wich one. I might get all of them at some later time but also take into consideration I am joining the army soon so it might be nice to have the beretta to keep my AR company. These will mostly be range guns, but with shtf and home defense in the back of my mind. I will most likely be adding target sights to the gun I get.

Tell me what is the best gun in all of these subjects, then vote on the poll for the overall winner in your mind. Most reliable, user friendly, fun, accurate, historically significant, ergonomics, widely used, after market parts (including magazines), or any other reasons they might be good.

Here's the choices:
1. Italian Beretta 92fs
2. Sig-Sauer P226 or P229
3. Glock 17/19
4. Browning Hi-Power.

(of course there are no best but what do you think is "better", and this is just your opinion of course. I like all of them, but I've chosen the beretta. It has a long military history and I will be using it. It's accurate and I don't mind a couple jams. All guns jam eventually. Bhp's feel better in my hand and I like single action triggers best. I still wanted to see what you all think though. Oh and I do love glocks. But I agree with the saying glocks are tools not handguns. They all fit me though.)

THE BEST is still the Sig P210.

I know people are still gloating over the M&P S&W much as they did when the XD pistols first came on the market.
That will pass and Glock will still be selling crunchintickers like they have since before anybody else besides H&K thought plastic fantastic was the wave of the future.

The one you shoot well with, all the time, and trust. :)

Any of the above will probably do.

I have 5 Berettas and love them - but the BEST is the one that fits you the best.

I won't sit and claim the Beretta is the best for everyone, but it is for me.

In 9mm Glock is the best of breed. 17, 19, 26 or 34 they are all Accurate, Reliable and practically Indestructible.

Curious to know why the OP specified the "Italian" made Beretta's? The one I own is Italian from the early 90's, just wondering if there is something inherently better about them.

If you would have phrased the question as "what is the quintessential 9mm?" I would have answered Beretta 92 series without hesitation.

Most reliable, user friendly, fun, accurate, historically significant, ergonomics, widely used, after market parts (including magazines), or any other reasons they might be good.
The Beretta and Glock are the only ones to meet most or all of these. Maybe the P35 too.

I'm not familiar with the word quintessential. That would be why I didn't phrase it that way.

All good pistols. I would chose the 19 from the list. I carry a P95 and have nothing but praise for it. Find one you like and fits you well then practice a great deal...oh and have fun too! :)

Adjective: Representing the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class: "the quintessential tough guy".

So, considering the scope of the OP's request, you'd turn your nose up on what are arguably the four finest production 9mm's ever produced? Nice contribution to his thread....

Why the sarcasm Denali? Its not needed her at THR.

Yes, there is!

First you slam the above mentioned poster for not contributing and then you post this? How does "Yes there is!" help anyone understand YOUR contribution?

I have read enough of your posts to quite confidently assess you as being a troll or having troll like characteristics. Please start being constructive in a manner that is congruent with THR or don't comment in an inappropriate fashion.

Thank you.

I think denali helped him, he did answer his question afterall, he asked is there something better about them and denali said yes.

But let's play nice now and just forget all this happened so we can get back to talking about our second ammendment rights. After all we are all on the same side here, we're Americans (mostly) and just want to excersize, protect, and talk about our right to bear arms!

I happen to prefer a different make of gun, I find that I enjoy shooting it, and, for me it's accurate, but then so is a hipoint, just it's like fat girls and tricycles, fun until your buddies find out.

I would say try a few, and that most if not all major 9's have their problems either known or worked out.
