DelTon AR barrels, how they shootin for ya?

I have 16" 1/9 chrome lined HB that shoots 2 MOA or better with 62gr. Silver Bear HP's.

I've never tried anything approaching match ammo, nor have I tried the profile you're interested in, though Delton's machine work and QC seems to be top notch.

Mine does just fine at the range. The iron sights are the limitation for me at 100 yards as they pretty much cover most of the target area at that range. I know I would do better with a scope, but that isn't what this rifle is to be used for.....

The one I've been using shoots "fine" but I have not in any way tested it for precision.

BTW, I believe Del-Ton buys their barrels from Wilson, which is a quality manufacturer.

I have a del-ton 16" heavy CL middy w/ lowpro gas block and rifle length free float. Shoots about 2 MOA with most NATO clone loads. Seems to like the American Tactical 62gr, which is made in Turkey. With that ammo or handloads it approaches 1 MOA.

Another 16" chrome lined 1 in 9 HBAR middy here....

My best groups have been 1.25" stabilized off hand, iron sights at 50 yds. with 69 gr. SMKs over 23 gr of H335.

Some say you can't stabilize a 69 gr. bullet with a 16",1 in 9 barrel.

I haven't had any problems.

I've used one with a scope. My bud - not really a gun guy - has a basic DelTon 16" M4gery with an Aimpoint. He wanted to see how good it would really shoot so I mounted a Nikon 2-7x24 shotgun scope on it and benched it with a sandbag under the forearm and a RedTac bag in the rear. With Black Hills match ammo (don't remember the weight) I shot three-shot groups well under MOA to 300 yards. We didn't have enough ammo to run five-shot groups, but I was impressed none the less.

I don't know how well a DelTon would hold up under extreme stress such as a three day carbine class, but I can tell you they are accurate as h@!!.

I have a DelTon 20" government profile 1/9. With Black Hills 52gr Match HP I can shoot a consistent 1.25 MOA if I do my part.

I have 1- 16" DTI barrel (M4'gery) with a TA31F ACOG. Shoots 1"@100 yards. Another 16" DTI barrel (M4'gery) has an Aimpoint ML2, which also shoots 1"@100 yards. Son has a 20" A3 DTI barrel with a Nikon 3X9 that shoots <1"@100 yards.

In the FWIW department; my DelTon 16" Dissy in 7.62x39 (no longer shown on their web site, but bought about a year ago and finally built up last month) is a solid MOA-ish performer with my standard hunting loads.

I assume(d) that DelTon is/was using Shaw barrels, but I have never seen that confirmed.

rbernie, I'm 99% sure I read somewhere that Del-Ton is using Wilson barrels, but I don't have the source handy at the moment.

Hardly matters as my understanding is that Shaw and Wilson are comparable in quality.
