I'm looking for a folder with a blade under 3" and still a pretty large handle. Somehting under $100. I have a couple of delicas but looking for other options.

Handles larger than the blade should make this easier since most companies try to put as much blade as possible in the handle.

Do you prefer Spydercos?

What will your EDC choirs be like? Around the farm or shop, or like most of us, around the office/house?

I do like Spydercos, I use them around the house and at work as a carpenter sometimes. There is an under 3" law her in IL, that is why I'm looking for that size. I prefer to get as much of a grip as possible. I'm intrigued by the Emerson snubby, but it is a little out of my price range.

Both Spyderco and Al Mar have made folders that fit your description of a 3" blade in a fuller sized body.

If you prefer the hole opening vs. thumb stud go with Spyerco.

needs work X3... I actually have one in my pocket, and two more unused, NIB ones in case they ever discontinue the knife. I've carried mine every day for the past two years, around the Middle East(via boat), on lake ships... still solid, blade resharpens easily...
would make a decent small fighter in a pinch, but can cut apples, or open envelopes just as well...

The Delica is available in ZDP 189 on amazon for like 50 bucks through some fluke, or ebay for about 60 (poorfish is the name of the supplier). It is normally an 85 dollar knife. I got one for me and one for my GF and they are great knives. I prefer the endura really but for actual every day use the delica is pretty much the perfect size, weight, and profile.

You can also grab a colored-handle, full flat ground one for about 50...can't go wrong either way though I'd go with the super steel. The full flat grind shines more in the Endura; the saber ground endura is very thin already so you aren't gaining as much with FFG.

Spyderco Persistence feels like a big knife, but the blade meets your size limits. The Tenacious is too long.

If you want to try the ZDP 189, click on Wandering Thoughts in my sig. I have a link, and got mine in yesterday. :)

Indeed. I prefer these to the Delica just because the blade shape is more practical in my opinion. The Native is a great knife for the under 3" category, it's light, is built well, and comfortable to cut with.

I'm on my 2nd Native, 1st one got a bit dull after 10 years of EDC and rather than have it sharpened I opted to get a new one since they now have S30V.

I went through several knives before settling on a benchmade 942. It carries a lot smaller than it is. I haven't found anything I like as much, and I'm always looking. new it's over 100, but you might find a used one. I picked mine up for 75.

If A.G. carries it, it is a quality knife regardless of where it was made.

I quite agree, but not everyone does. ;) That knife, BTW, is a terrific value at $28.

Recently I received my Spyderco Persistence. I bought it off of ebay for 30 bucks. It is a wonderful knife. It has under a three inch blade but it is a wide and substantial blade. The handle is large enough to fill your whole hand and the G10 panels are grippy enough for a secure grips. Opening is easy with a large thumbhole and the belt clip adjusts to four different positions. I would be hard pressed to buy a different knife, especially if it costs more. The persistence is a LOT of knife for $30 bucks.

My above post should say the saber-ground delica is already very thin and would likely not benefit as much from FFG.

kershaw needs work....

i have three. two are still packed and unopened. the other has been used and carried daily for nearly 3 years.

For those that know something about the Delica, looking at the pics of it the handle looks smaller than the Persistence and what is it made of? Do any of you have experience with both and can make a comparison of the two?

You can get the Delica in FRN (fiber reinforced nylon), G10, Al, Carbon fiber and even Ti.

Normally they're FRN handles.
