Just renewed my NRA........

I belong to the NRA & TSRA, but I paid up for Life & Endowment Life memberships a while back so the downturn has only slowed extra contributions on my part. Do wht you can when you can, no reason to feel guilty.

I support the Louisiana wildlife dept by buying hunting and fishing licenses every year, even for stuff that I don't hunt and fish (there are several different licences down here depending on method, cane pole vs rod and reel, rifle vs primitive firearm, etc). Don't know if it would be a "pro gun" per se, but I feel it's every Louisiana citizen's job to support our wildlife and help manage it.

So, I might just be joining that organization, too.

Just renewed mine last week.
I would like to do more but it has been a tight year.
I will not need to buy any reloading components for quite a while---so I mey be able

I just buy guns, ammo and vote accordingly. The 2nd Amendment protects our right to bear as we dont need any Washington lobby group to uphold our right. I haven't renewed my NRA membership for 20 years! And I bought my son a life membership when he turned 18. I also quit renewing membership in the Kansas State Rifle Association. I'm a lifer there too.

I just buy guns, ammo and vote accordingly. The 2nd Amendment protects our right to bear as we dont need any Washington lobby group to uphold our right. If we ever do need a group like the NRA to protect our rights then the Constitution isnt worth the paper written on and our nation is in dire need of help.

That has to be about the most irresponsible comment I've seen made here. But all too common of an attitude by American gun owners. There are around 98 million gun owners in this country if I recall correctly, but just over 4 million NRA members. And I'll tell you quite clearly, us 4 million are getting pretty tired of carrying you 94 million.

If you truly believe the constitution protects your 2nd amendment rights, you are clearly not paying attention. Or maybe you have found a way to ignore the fact that each and every legal gun owner has to prove they're law abiding before they can buy a gun. And have to do the same each and every time they purchase a new one.

Here's a news flash for you, the NRA has a variety of missions other than fighting to keep our 2nd amendment rights. Or are you too cheap to support gun safety training for children? To introduce new shooters to the sport? To help carry the load of training for our law enforcement? And hundreds of other things other than lobby for fairer gun regulations for legal gun owners.

Myself, I'm an endowment member of the NRA, a member of my state firearms organization, and a member of the Second Amendment Foundation.

To the OP, I salute you my brother, and hope you'll continue to help us in our mission. To those too cheap to assist the effort, you should be ashamed of yourself. I know many who are in such dire straits that they can't be life members, or contribute to legislative efforts, but they'll forgo a cup of coffee and save up to at least renew yearly at lower rates through gun clubs, gun shops, or gun show recruitment efforts.

To the poster who feels the constitution protects your rights, have you payed attention to recent Supreme Court decisions? A 5-4 decision should make even the most blind gun owner open his eyes and see the light.

I agree and disagree with this. We have people in the left-winged front funding/buying lobbyists and manipulating our government into shunting our right to bear arms. We need a strong defense against "Team Soylent Green", so any pro-2A lobbyists we can fund are greatly appreciated.

I AGREE that our nation is in dire need of help. It's already apparent to most loyalists and gun owners that our rights are being stripped from us at every turn. Here in California we are soon to be confronted with being ID'ed and fingerprinted for the purchase of ammunition. This is a constitutional right that we are exercising which requires us to be processed like criminals.

Next step: "Show me your papers"

Our rights are being eroded and lobbyists are our only recourse. We need to fund the cause that fights for what we believe in. Not propaganda - but DEFENDING our rights provided to us by the men who sacrificed all for our country.

Yoo hoo! Time to wake up! Hello!

I'm sure that the good citizens of New York City, Hawaii, California, etc etc. will feel more assured knowing their 2A rights are safe and protected by the Constitution.

Our 2A rights have been under siege at local, state, and federal levels since the ink was still not dry on the Bill of Rights. It's only when we band together as a group that we can protect what is ours as individuals.

Okay, you can go back to sleep now.

This poster is absolutely correct.

However, the part of his statement which he conveniently omitted is, "and I trust the politicians and justices in Washington to do the right thing."

To anyone who posts on this (or any other board) because they enjoy guns and shooting and believe that firearms are an inseparable part of our American heritage and a guarantee of equality in America: If you are not a member of the NRA, you are asking those of us who are members to pull your dead weight.

Don't ask others to do for you what you won't do for yourself.

Name for me the politician (except Chuck Schumer or Michael Bloomberg) who would support ANY anti-gun legislation if the NRA had 30 million members.

And please don't tell me that buying guns and ammo and hunting licenses supports the Second Amendment.

My brother-in-law renewed my membership in the NRA for Christmas. Great gift, eh? I love it.

I'm renewing both NRA and TSRA and contributed several hundred dollars to the NRA Foundation.

I may not agree with everything they do, but I sure as heck agree with their mission!

Both my wife and I are Life Members of the NRA and TSRA.

Actually, I was an annual member of TSRA until this November. For my birthday, she paid off my Life Membership. She's a keeper.
