SHOT Day 2 - Ruger

Very nice Scout rifle. Do they have futuure plans for it to have a synthetic stock as an option. I'd very much like to get one that is at or under 3 kgs (6.7 lbs) per Cooper's original highly desired specs.

im with sheepdog, i would enjoy it much better in synthetic.

did not catch the scoct rifles MSR, did anyone catch the price?
lc9's should be out very soon.

I like that Ghost Scout in the upper rack.

My local dealer has one in stock. It handles very nicely and the sights do look usable. And boy is it light.

Any word on when these hit the market for us common folk?

SHOT Show Day 4 - Ruger



The new Ruger Scout Rifle. I'll be honest, while I don't have a specific need for this gun, it's exceptionally well-thought out.

It also has the best factory trigger of any Ruger I've ever handled.

Yeah. I said it. A Ruger with a good factory trigger.

The gun is light, clearly handy, and slavishly conforms to the specifics set forth by Jeff Cooper. Seriously cool.

Ruger is now making the Mk. III with a threaded barrel from the factory.

The primary reason people thread barrels on rimfire guns is because they expect to put a sound suppressor on them.

Take a minute to think about that.

Ruger, the most straight-laced gun company in the world is now actively catering to the NFA crowd.

If you're still boycotting them because of something that Bill Ruger said decades ago, guess what:

You can quit now. We've won.

Looks like the street price is right around $750

Minor point but when did manufacturers start stubbing off the bottom of the recoil pad to make it look like an amateur did it instead of continuing the line of the bottom of the stock?

I'll be the first to say it, I don't get it. I'd much rather have a lever action.

Plus AAC announced a behind the scenes project of a MK type integral to be relaease Q2 2011.

Hmmm, on the 308 scout according to the manual you have to remove the rear iron sight to attach the scope rings. Seems like they would have found some way to have BUIS on something like this (IMHO). And it should come with the 5 round mag to meet hunting laws in some states but it's a $64 purchase. If they do these things I would buy it.
