I have a question or two about the cannelure tool made by CH 4D.

I want to use some 45 acp bullets, Zero 230 gr JHP, and load a few +P 45 Colt loads to shoot out of my NM Blackhawk. I won't be doing a lot of bullets cause Brad's Cowboy #1's just shoot to good (and cheaper to boot) but I would like to give some a try.

After a search on the forum here I see that some of ya'll have used this tool.
So my question, how well will it work for what I'm wanting to do?

Does anybody have one that you don't need and could be talked out of it? (read cheap)

I have one, and I've left instructions for them to add a pocket in the coffin for it when I die....

They work great and I used mine all the time. I've used it to add a cannelure to 9mm bullets for use in the 357 Sig, .38 bullets and I'm currently using it on .44 Magnum bullets that I'm swaging. I wouldn't be without one.

Hope this helps.

I've used that tool to roll a crimp ring in straight walled cases at the base of the bullet to prevent set back in autoloaders.Worked great.

I have one, if you happen to shoot with MVSA, I will bring it up there if you want to play with it. Unless you need one, your bullets are pulling, you don't want one.

:what:

Well, that pretty much answers both questions right there.
yep, it works
and
NO I ain't gonna get yours. :D

It sounds to me like it is exactly what I need. So I guess I need to do some serious looking.

I appreciate ya'll telling me your firsthand experience with them.

That is awfully [strike]nice[/strike] High Road of you, Sir. Thank you.

To be honest I didn't even know what MVSA was until I googled it. Looks really nice. I'm going to look the website over some more later. But, no I don't reckon I'll be there but I sure do thank you for the offer.

If you do decide to buy one, don't bother with ebay. I just watched one sell for more than CH-4D sells them for brand new, and the one that sold looked pretty rough.

They're listed under "bullet" on their website: http://www.ch4d.com/

Hope this helps.

Thanks Fred, I saw that deal too. :scrutiny:

CraigC, I have looked at the one Corbin sells, on their website, but it's almost twice the price of the one made by CH-4D. But that does bring another question to mind.

Does anyone else make a cannelure tool besides CH-4D and Corbin? Those are the only 2 I remember seeing anything about.

I've had a good offer for a swap but he mostly needs rifle and 44 mag reloading supplies.

>Here's where I'm looking.<

The problem is I don't do a lot of rifle loading so I have very little with which to barter.
And while I load for about 10 different handgun calibers ->

-> 44 isn't one of them. :banghead:
