Then why did you post in this thread?
Boris

GENTLEMAN OF THE CHARCOAL showed and described to everyone about his Remington revolver and simply indicated that he doesn't really care whether he's put on the Remington 1858 Club membership list or not. In other words joining was not his primary reason for posting.
Simply wanting to post about his Remington is reason enough. :)

Just wanting to show us a photo and tell us about your Remington is enough to be included.. there's no fee other than your participation. We seem to be doing rather well too! :D

My intent in starting this thread was simply to encourage everyone to show off their guns, share knowledge and fire the imagination. You are all most welcome here, thanks for posting!

Welcome to kameron1858 and GENTLEMAN OF THE CHARCOAL. We now have nearly sixty members!

Thank you. I graciously accept. Very courteous and pleasant and kind of you gentlemen to include me....Yes, I was only saying good evening and just showing the '58. I own 5 of them; 2 laser grip case hardened, 2 Target Models, and one Stainless (fixed sights).. All of them have had a lot of work done on them but the one I pictured here is the only one of them I carry and shoot. All 5 of them are Remington (Pietta) 1858 New Model Armies. '58's are fine handguns..Have a good evenin all of you....

Raises hand!!!:D OOO can I play too? My remmy I bought used about a year ago. It was between an 1860 colt and the remmy. Well the remmy was a bit cheaper. It took its place on my hip through all my reenacting events, from artilleryman to sheriff it did its job. Not a single misfire and I tend to put 60+ rounds through it at a time without a single seize up. So without anymore waiting here are some pictures.

And lastly one of me drawing it playing sheriff

junkman cut this pic out of a pic with Colts in it for the other club then just discarded it as trash.
Yeah, we've seen it (and the Colt repros) in post #23 of this thread.

(you might want to ask the owner of the picture before reposting it)

Sorry I misunderstood a post in the Colt thread. I thought they where junkman's guns.

I've got three 1890's and two '75's! I have a pair of 1890 .357's, supposedly owned by Maria Uberti... matched number .357's, one's stainless or in the white, and one's blued, which lends some credence to the story. The engraved pistola is a .45.

I'm certainly no photographer, but let me in the club anyway. New .36 cal and .44 cal Piettas.

My Newest Rem 58

This is one I picked up yesterday, was told before I got there it was Stainless, but still happy with it. I took it apart today for its first cleaning and again Lugi the nipple tightener at Pietta really torqued the heck out of them. The man I got it from received it as a gift from his son about 2 - 3 yrs ago and never fired it because he was scared of chain fire.

Do you have a 'family plan?'

Remember, girls need little guns.

A Pietta .44 from Cabela's. Not only did my kids shoot it. I managed to get my brother, sister, and father-in-law to play along with a 30gr load. This is easily the most popular gun I have.

Conicals in Remington faired better than RBs!!

Been a while since we've had a message on the OTHRR1858C!!

Doing some extended testing with a new mould (Lee 450-200-1R) and different powders, I came to this discovery. My '58 Pietta, made in 1996, ate the conicals up and left the RB loads in the dust. I was surprised to say the least. However, using vol. eq. of 24 gr. of 777 at 25 yds printed a tight 2.5" group from a very solid rest on a calm afternoon. .454 Rb's printed about 4.5" at the same range and charge.

Upping the charge to 35 gr. by vol. was just enough to seat the conical w/o compression. It was a hoss as far as hitting the target, but opened up to 5". RB's with did about as well. But changing to Pyrodex (after a brief cleaning) and using the same 24 and 35 vol. charges gave me almost the same results but the rounds impacted about 2' lower than with the 777.

Good old BP was fun, but as with the Pyrodex, was low compared to the 777 loads. But all in all it was fun running the loads on my range and the woods were filled with smoke for an hour!

In conclussion, the .456-220-1R for the ROA would not chamber in my Remmy. But the 450 mikes out to .4515 as cast and was just right! With 24 gr. of 777 and two and a half inch group centered at 25.....ahhh, I think I like it! :D
