If Tula is the same as Wolf, I can say the Large Pistol primers are fine. I wouldn't be afraid of their LP Magnum primers.

I just got in 10k from Powder Valley a couple of weeks ago....I found the large pistols harder to seat than CCI or Winchester. They gave me trouble with my L-N-L press, but worked fine with a Lee hand tool. It still took more force to seat them, but they went in....I sat down the other day and tried them again with my press. I could get them to seat well enough, but it took a forceful push on the lever to do it.

I purchased 1000 Tula large pistol primers recently. So far, all that I have shot went bang. So, I have purchased some more.

I'm not sure that I'd buy rifle primers yet but I don't have any hard evidence to say not to.

I haven't noticed them being tight, CPE, but most of my .45 ACP brass has been loaded several times, so the pockets may be large.

Yesterday, I was at the shooting club I belong to. A guy that works at a local gun store and orders their reloading supplies was there. Before I ordered the Tulas, I mentioned to him the "deal" Powder Valley had and thought he may want to buy some for their store. Anyway, I told him about the issues I had with them seating. He said he had heard the same thing from a few other people. I think that may be why he didn't order any for his store, but he didn't say....At any rate, it's not really a deal breaker for me. Once I learned it took more force to seat them with my press, everything ran pretty smoothly.

I purchased some from the PV special last month. I've probably loaded somewhere over 1k between SP and SR primers. Every one so far has gone bang just like it should. The SP primers have all seated fine. The SR primers seem harder to seat than my usual CCI or Win primers, but they have all seated, it just took a little more force to get them there. Not a deal breaker, by any means...

My overall opinion of them so far is a positive one. With the free shipping and hazmat that PV had (may still have for all I know) on them, it saved me a fair amount on shipping/hazmat since I ordered some rifle and pistol powder too and the whole thing shipped for free.

Just shot some today. Using same brass, bullet, and powder/wt., as with Winchester Primers had better accuracy results.

Have used Wolf/Tula primers for a couple of years now and find them to be as good or better than the "Big Name Brands".

I have been working on the box of 10K & I like them better then CCI. They seat easier & seem not to flatten like the CCI's.

Some benchrest shooters seem to think highly of Wolf and PMC primers for consistent SD/ES numbers.

My experience with Wolf/PMC started last year when my preferred Winchester primers were hard to find. I bought some Wolf LP, PMC SP along with Magtech SP. Wolf LP and Magtech SP perform comparable to Winchester LP/SP primers but PMC SP required .2-.3 gr more to match Winchester's performance.

Recently, I tried Tula LP/SP primers (made in the same plant as Wolf) and found them comparable in performance to Wolf LP/Winchester LP/SP. Side-by-side comparison between Tula and Wolf shows same brass cup but slightly different color of priming compound. I have yet to experience primer failure with Wolf/PMC/Tula primers.

Or you could buy the AMERICAN made primers for 1/2 a penny more each and help support the guy down the street.

The only primers I would buy from Russia are Berdan primers. To my knowledge no US primer producers make Berdan primers.

I'm thinking about buying CCI SRP from Cabela's while they're on sale, to use in luger and .40 reloads. Tula can't be any much cheaper that 19.99?

The guy down the street could just reduce his overhead, or figure out another way to lower his price to match? Its called a free market.

The guy down the street includes the American importer and retailers of foreign made goods. Isn't that the American dream? Mark up stuff made by child laborers in foreign countries? Seems to work for Springfield with the XD line.

Wow that's pretty sad... A bunch of children overseas make a better gun than our adult laborers over here?

The trend of a globalized economy has caused the term "Made in America" to become ambiguous at best. So many of our everyday goods are partly or wholly made overseas and many overseas goods are made partly or wholly here in the good ol' USA that trying to buy just American made goods is an act of futility it seems. There are so many companies that are technically overseas companies yet employ US employees and are their shares are traded on the US market that buying good made by these companies is just as supportive of our economy than another country's. Witness the effect on our economy of the failing of another country's economy and you see how interwoven our fates truly are. I have no problem with trying to support the guy down the street, I try to do it by supporting small businesses, but by eschewing goods that are perceived to be UnAmerican can end up having the opposite effect.

To the OP's question, I also recently bought 7K Wolf SP primers and have found them to be just as good as the Remington, CCI, or Winchester primers that I have used in the past.

As I would if it were only 1/2 penny per primer. Heck I'd even pony up a whole penny more.

But not when "the guy down the street" is making almost THREE cents more per primer. That's the difference between $35/thousand and $65/thousand for bench rest primers (BR-2). Regular primers are sold her "by the guy down the street" for $32-$35/thousand while the Tula/Wolf's are selling for $18-$20.

I don't mind someone making a profit but with this is more like profiteering. May have worked when they were short in supply but the pendulum has swung the other way.

How many child laborers are there in Russia? As for those in the Far East, they may be making only a buck or so per day but that can still amount to many times the annual income for other workers. Don't drink the Kool-Aide just because it there.

I agree with A and O...I'm as tight with the $$s as the next guy, but I think it is time we give our business to people working here in America. If Tula and Wolf are the only companies left making primers, how affordable do you think they will be then!
